Distilling alcohol without a license is illegal everywhere, at any volume, at a federal level.

In gatlinburg Tennessee theres an ol smokey store and also another store that both give out sample of there brand of moonshine and other liquor.

Its not to exciting though because 5 sample = 1 shot

I may have to try an apple pie recipe with everclear. I make limoncello 2 gallons at a time with lemon peels, simple sugar and everclear. It's completely sip able straight, and it's 80 proof!

DAMN STRAIGHT!!!! And to that previous "recipe"... That's a good knock-off version that tastes similar to the real stuff but there IS a difference between the taste of "grain alcohol" or everclear and moonshine... The stuff I've *cough* had *cough* tastes about like smoky water with a slight bite if that makes sense... Imagine water that smells and tastes like a good campfire but that has the bite of a decent vodka... And then kicks you in the ass about a minute later, you're about there.. Lol

That's a very cool picture. My wife and I are doing some genealogy research and found out that my mother's grandma's mom's  side of the family used to run shine in Tennessee. Also my wife's dad's mother's family is from Arkansas, but used to cross the Mississippi river and run shine from Tennessee into Arkansas. They were probably enemies. hahaha

Nope...Sells! If anyone is around Byrdstown, TN they have heard the name. Our family has been there since the 1600s (no sh-t) and tons of the roads, coves etc are Sells this and that. And a long history of moonshine! My 99 year old grandad (son of 4th from left) is living with my folks in CO and has been helping me with the old family recipe for the last 5-6 years.

Thanks! Our family is spread all over now but still very close. My grandad just sold his farm in Byrdstown, TN and moved to CO to be with my folks...he turns 100 in February. I'm sure he knows your family name, no kidding he literally seems to know everything that happened in TN the last 9 decades.

Absolutely right... I've bought it before but it's usually a WAY lower proof and yet somehow much harsher than the real stuff

probably just cheaper ingredients and a quicker distilling process to crank out more bottles.
