After all of this, I'm just gonna get what I want / NEED.

2014 DC V6 SR5 Tow Package. Short or Long Bed is debatable. It comes with color matched everything and has power everything. Gut and replace the stereo. Upgrade wheels tires suspension. As for the scoop, I don't care. As for the stickers, I am a graphic designer and work at a graphics shop. As for the interior, I bet the "crappy" non TRD seats will be better than the ones in my 2002 Xterra.

I seriously appreciate all the feedback and help. I will post up all mods and have awesome pic loaded step by steps for everyone in the future!

i have the sr5 but i have trd off road stickers on the bed. the tailgate says sr5 v6.

OP, you don't need trd if you don't or don't plan on wheeling as much. depending on what year model, you'll have a limited slip which is great in most cases. sr5 doesn't have trd seats, outside temp, locking diff, or short bed version, floor mats (i think) color matched grill? there are a few minor differences, but i have wheeled mine just as well as someone with a trd version. although you might have to use momentum in some situations ;)

edit you can get the sr5 with long bed, but NOT on the TRD OffRoad with locking diff

Meh. I paid $29,700 for my new 4x4. MPG is same as the pre runner I had before. Insurance is $2 more a month so about $24 more a year. Maintenance costs are higher though.

That being said the OP doesn't need 4x4. Too many people on here push 4x4.

Not sure if it matters to the OP... but in my last home a long bed double cab would not fit in the garage... the standard bed double cab just did. However, I want my truck to go anywhere, so the Off Road TRD (no long bed) has always been my only desire... because the only 4WD Tacoma with A-TRAC and a Rear Locking Differential is the Off Road TRD.
