Miguel, I completely understand and agree that health comes first but why buy a vehicle that's known to have problems and expect to have to dump time and money in parts. I don't know what kind of surgery you're having but you'll want a reliable vehicle while you're recovering and unable to do your own work. Just throwing it out there but if you're true motive is to cut cost, why not go with an older Honda Civic or Accord? Those things are damn near bullet proof and you won't end up dumping money into it just to keep it running. Good luck to you and I hope all your health issues work themselves out so you're back on your feet again soon!

The parents standing at the stop did. I was about 5 cars behind. Luckily no kids were hurt. It took about 1.5 min for fire, emts, and police to arrive on scene. If not less time.

To be fair, I had a '93 Grand Cherokee for three years. Granted, it had a 4.0 instead of a 5.9, but the only thing I had to put into it over the course of roughly 40k was a set of front pads, rotors and one tie rod end. It was a tank in the snow or offroad, and it was cheap to lift a modest amount to clear 31's (2" budget boost cost me less than $200 at the time, and that included new shocks at all four corners)

Oh man, that's great. He did it AT a stop? Of all the places to do something stupid like that, doing it in front of the parents of children getting ON to the bus....
    Classic.

Hell, it's probably MORE likely to happen to you; you're not driving a big yellow bus with flashing lights...

Agreed. It's about time that people who are so careless with everyone elses health and well-being start getting beaten in public.

Several years ago a girl rear-ended me in my Colorado. Only a tap but when I got out and thought I saw her texting she nearly got throttled. Fortunately for both of us it was the GPS on her console. As luck would have it she hit the middle of the bumper (nothing but plastic) with her license plate, couldn't have planned much better. Only damage was her plate bent and I fixed that right there.

For a toy or project, I agree, there's nothing wrong with it. But to buy one to save money when you still need reliable transportation I think is a horrible idea.

If only! If I could beat people in public for doing stupid shit, I'd probably actually enjoy working in Cambridge! :D
