I have experienced splotchy headlight beams from both the cheap ebay lenses and now my new, better quality, Anzo headlight lenses. It is the same no matter what headlight bulbs I use. Anybody else having this inconsistent hotspot/coldspot lighting issue? It doesn't seem like an adjustment problem. The stock lenses didn't do this and it's driving me crazy!

WTF is up with the color?
Are those HID? If so, that is a big part of your problem.

HID do not project properly in reflectorized housings.
You are blinding the piss out of oncoming traffic and drivers in front of you.

But yes... aftermarket housings generally do have a horrible pattern. TYC used to be good, but I've heard not so much lately.
Depo is often used by body shops and seems to be a good OEM replacement.
Spyder is one of the worst.

Yeah, I just put HIDs in today. Regular halogen bulbs gave the same lighting pattern. The Anzo lenses I have on the truck now are not the cheap ebay ones, however hasn't made a difference in the pattern. The Anzos just don't get the condensation in them like the cheapos do.

Anzo, like TYC, used to be pretty respected.

Seems they all took a shit over the last 5 years.

Color balance on the camera may be off, but those don't look like any 5000k I've ever seen.

    What brand are they? DDM?

On a serious note, this was my stock lighting

Honestly I think the tacomas have wonderful stock lights. You are using ebay and anzo which both suck IMO.

I had the same issue with a set of aftermarkets. Went back to stock because of it.

This side of Retrofitting your stock housings with Projectors any aftermarket light will be worse than the stock lights. On a side note... If you are running HID's in a stock housing you might want to remove them. They are not made for stock housings and will blind other drivers.

*EDIT* For what it's worth the stock lights in the Tacoma are great by themselves.

Gotcha. I figured it was just an aftermarket issue where they don't care to pay much for research and design. I just wanted to make sure that other people running aftermarket lights were having the same issue and wanted to see if there was an optimal adjustment that someone figured out. As for the HIDs, I probably will take them out. I am not throughly impressed with them anyways, and I only had them for 1 day.

I've said it in a bunch of posts here, I am flabbergasted by anyone wanting to change the awesome stock headlights in any way! But I guess I have never had any fancy aftermarkets, so what do I know.

I've bought aftermarket headlight's before and have had mixed results. Some good some bad. The best luck I've had is just doing the BHLM to mine. Best of both worlds. I thought about doing it to my 13 but doubt I'll go through the trouble since the bezel isn't nearly as big as the 2011 was. It will be the first vehicle that I haven't done a BHLM too in quite a while.

But I agree with you... The factory lights are awesome on the Tacoma.

    BHLM on my 2011

Light output was still factory while looking aftermarket.

this x1000, i replaced my girlfriends headlights with anzos...they were junk, returned them and got replacements from keystone...same exact junk just not painted black...OEM is the only good option...the only change in lighting i would make would be a set of jw speaker led headlights

I think it would look good even with the small bezel

I think I might try in a few months when my truck can have some down time.
