You could spend a bit changing the seat arrangement and still be way ahead $$ over trading for something else, since you've said you like the truck otherwise.
Is your truck a base or SR5 model? Or one of the TRD editions? The base / SR5 seats are different from the TRD seats, some say better, some say worse, though I'm the same height and inseam as you and find the base seats comfortable. YMMV, of course.
The hardest part about a seat swap may be the side airbags mounted inside, since your '13 has them, right? You'd have to match things up with your "new" seat.

KOSMO, how about I buy your seats for my son's truck and you can get some landcrusier or FJ seats, they are bucket seats?

:) Buying a new seat is a lot cheaper than a new vehicle, for sure.

The TRD seats in my '13 are absolute heaven compared to the fucking garbage that was in my 1st gen.

I agree with Landphil, that is a big hit to trade a new truck because of the seat. It would be cheaper to buy new seats than take that kind of loss trading it in. Here's an idea, how about a heated massage cushion for on your seat. It could make long drives more comfortable. Another idea is to make sure you get out band stretch. Good luck.

These are the worse thing ever! My mom used to have one in her CR-V and every time I drove it, I had bumps sticking up in my a** and back. Never understood how she could be fine with such an uncomfortable seat.

OP, before you ditch the truck, try a lumbar support. I've driven a '13 Access Cab Prerunner for the past 3 months and on long trips I experienced some lower back/hip pain. Had this lumbar support form Walgreen's that I'd bought for a previous car, so I tried it and found it helped a lot. The support is basically a stiff wire frame covered with a nylon mesh and sits against the lower seat back. Pretty cheap experiment.

    OP's got a TRD Sport.

I think yours should have lumbar support. Have you tried adjusting the knob next to the reclining lever? That's helped me a lot and so did removing my wallet from my back pocket.

MINE ALSO KILLS ME! i had to actually pull over the other day and take a break. GRanted this was more to do with deadlifts though.

I do plan to swap the seats with acura seats in the near future though :)
the TL, RSX, TSX seats are SO much better

+2 on removing wallet before driving, which I'm sure you've tried. Literally only takes me an hour in the car with wallet in to be in pain the rest of the day. I do have a pretty screwed up back in the first place though.

I have a bench seat, if you'd like to know pain feel free to stop by some time. All jokes aside, I understand where you're coming from while it seems like there are plenty people in this thread who just want to bash. Who cares if you have a pretty capable and reliable truck, if the seats suck. Really, it screws up the rest of your day if your back hurts so what's the fun in that. "She'll take me anywhere, but from then I have to pull out the wheel chair because my back and legs are destroyed!"

Swapping in different seats may seem like a crappy thing to have to do to a brand new truck, but the cost of something different would be much less than the hit you'd take on trade in. It seems like you like your truck otherwise, or at least more than Suburbans, so maybe consider it? I'm sure you could recoup a ton of your expenses selling your existing seats on Craigslist too.

    Kosmo,
I've been thinking about this thread. I have back issues as well (sciatica). For all my vehicles, I have found that if I adjust the seat so that my lower back is sort of cradled in the seat my discomfort is minimized. Also, it may be that your back is going to be problematic regardless of the truck you buy. Before buying a new rig, you might consider renting the model you are thinking about and driving it for a week or two. It would be a real PITA if you bought a new truck only to find you still have issues with the comfort of the seat. And as an aside, I do lower back exercises everyday. It really helps.

Thanks for the the helpful comments.

Yes, I have lumbar support in truck. I keep it dialed up kinda high. Today I drove all gangsta' but I couldn't see out the side or mirrors. Back didn't hurt though as I was pretty much laying down. I tried my best to look threatening when people looked over confused. Probably just looked like I was high.

I pushed the seat further back than is really safe, braking wise, and that seemed to help a bit too. I think it's just that the seat is too low.

As for out of the frying pan and into the fire, my last vehicle was a suburban 2500. I'm confident it won't hurt but I hate to give up on the my Taco. I've wanted one for so long. I'm still trying a few little adjustments but I'm mainly relegated to driving the Landcruiser so I can still walk at the end of the day.

I can't believe that Toyota was so forward thinking to include a iPhone holder in a 2000 Landcruiser, AMAZING foresight.

If I could afford a newer Cruiser I'd go that route but the best deal going is about $70K for a brand new 2012. A good deal but not in my current budget. I can steer anyone who wants that deal to it if neeeded.

Plus when you look at the back of the Tacoma you don't have that dumb ass trim smiling back at you. Those engineers must have been plastered on Saki when they designed them.

13 SR5 here. Stock seats with lots of long drives. Just drove BC to Baja in 5 days. No pain, just some general stiffness that goes away in a minute or two walking around.
    Tricks that work for me-
    1.remove wallet, every time.
    2. get out and stretch your quads every 2 hours. Do a real stretch, not a pretend move.
    3. I have Wet Okoles, which add a real nice cushion.
    4. Adjust your steering wheel occasionally. Adjust your hands on the wheel. Adjust your lumbar occasionally. Adjust your seat position occasionally.
    5. Lots of hydration. (helps make a reason to stop every 2 hours!)
    6. Use cruise when you can.
    7. Relax. Really. Even if you have to slow down a bit. Tension will go straight to your lower back.

Hope this helps someone out there.
    BTW I'm 6', and 220.

find some seats out of a 4runner, much more comfortable than my SR5 seats. i am 6' tall and have never been real comfortable with these seats, wish i had the the sport buckets in 2005.
