Aperture priority if the subject is close like above. I can only do it in manual if I've looked at the viewfinder previously and have already set up for the lighting. Aperture priority works best for me. I pick a depth of field and the camera does the rest.

I don't even shoot manual anymore... Shutter and aperture priority rule everything, and you can bracket the exposure if need be. I usually over expose by 1/3 stop and bring it down in post and I found that it reduces a lot of noise, especially in low light at a higher ISO.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1386903823.398784.jpg

This being one of those times. Also when your object moves a lot and lighting changes, even the smallest change will affect that manual set exposure.

he he, I should stake out leucadia when I get home after tomorrow... :spy:

I was originally thinking of snapping shots of people coming out of finals, but I was only on campus when I was taking my finals, so when I got out I was just done and didn't want to shoot. I'll try for something. Maybe a gas station...
When you guys take "secret" hip shots/chest shots, is the shutter not that audible? I feel like that would give it away instantly, unless I'm on a point and shoot.

I do if I'm doing stuff at night, long exposure stuff, or with strobes, but if I'm using natural light shooting a moving object or a portrait I stick to AP or SP

I shouldn't have said never haha

It is. I wish it were silent. I don't usually get busted in louder settings but the shutter has given me away a plenty. I'm hoping whatever mirrorless I get in the future for this kind of stuff will be a lot more quiet.

Fuji x100 has proven quite the camera for candid stuff. It's very nice.

Here ya go guys. Take a walk with a street photographer and see how he does it and his tips. He starts really talking about it at the 5 min mark.

It's all relative. Loud compared to silent? Quiet compared to a DSLR? You'd have to snap cameras side by side to compare.

I almost got a NEX-6 haha I was dead set on it, then Sony came out with Full Frames and have more in store for early 2014 and Olympus stepped up the mirrorless world with the OM-D E-M1 and all of their tiny, beautiful prime lenses :D

I think one day I'll grab an OM-D and whenever Sony finally puts out a FF Mirrorless with Olympus' 5-axis IBIS and some more stinking lenses I would like to have that cover my Full Frame needs. One camera for small size and fun factor and one for the all out IQ and specialized needs. Too much probably, but that's my personal road map. One of you can buy my DSLR after I get the OM-D if you would like :D

I, like most everyone else is a little freaked out by this challenge, but I am determined not to chicken out. Linked below is an article from a few guys who do this all the time. Might help out.

DO NOT try to be sneaky and get shots of people ha

I'd much rather someone just be dressed normal and acting normal and snapping shots as they walk than to have someone go all solid snake and sniping people from behind poles and around corners. If you want to look like a creepy pervert go ahead and look like one haha I'd say just dress normal, act normal, and take some photos, personally.
