OP, why the f**k haven't you posted a vid, all this talk, only pics of your slightly better welding, amd even the latest welds are OMG, but no vid of your truck doing its thing?


You brought this on yourself kid, with all the $$$ you're saving, buy a darn camcorder or trade in your phone for one that can take decent vid and post some up, you want to keep hucking your crud, then shut people up with a couple of action vids to prove your, err, craftsmanship skills...


You will get less hating if you do...

Nah i havnt posted any vids yet. I havnt had time, i will eventually though. Like i said i dont care if these guys dont like my fab work,im just posting it here for other people who may be interested in building their own stuff. Never claimed it to be beautiful, it does work though. More pics to come

Thanks man its all about learning, and im designing a uniball that will bolt into the stock spindle but i have to figure put some geometry things with it, itll be similar to camburgs 6lug lower uniball kit, thats farther down the line though and yeah im in south carolina, im from the OC tho

Props to you for trying OP, there's nothing wrong with that. But... If it were me I would want to be on my A game with my fab/welding skills, before diving into fabing up some critical pieces like suspension components.. If something were to break at the wrong time, you're talking the potential of getting people injured or killed. I hope everything you're doing holds up tho and nothing bad happens. Accidents, only take split seconds and happen unexpectedly. Something you should really think about.

 

I think it's awesome what the op is doing. It isn't hard to design a kit that bolts up but making it perfect takes time which the op knows. Also for everyone Who thinks its unsafe you do realize the shock and spindle take all the pressure from hard impacts like you would get when hucking. The only time the lca will fail is from a direct hit from a rock or when landing crooked on the outside of one wheel. So the uca and lca arent nearly as important as the shock and spring for durability. Look at the allpro tubular arms. You could probably bend them in half with a sledge wouldnt be as easy with a tc lca but they are over engineered is my point.

I originally thought the allpro kit musd be weak but during normal use the force on the lca is very low and i would not be worried about them failing, unless a heavy direct impact.

His kit is safe enough to drive and if it breaks it shouldn't be catastrophic anyway. You can drive on the brake rotor as long as you got the cash to fix it. Seen people desert racing not even knowing the whole wheel/tire had broken off the hub. you can still control it.


Op keep on learning congrats on your hard work ethic and attitude toward learning new things.

You need to open a basic statics text book. How the hell does the shock take all the force without the lca taking any? Does the force transfer from the shock to the ground through thin air?

Hint, the answer is no, it transfers through the lca to the knuckle.
