Different types of vehicles, different definitions of performance. Lots of good info about bolt ons, like lifts and tires, and DIY stuff, like the locker control mod for example, just not much on engine upgrades. For one, most here are into off road stuff, for that a second gen has plenty of power. Not a lot of drag racing guys around here, or not with their Tacos anyways.

Another thing, I also have an 02 WS6 drop top with an LS1. I could S/C the Taco and put on just about every performance bolt-on available, and it still would not be as quick as the T/A is from the factory with a set of DRs on the back and a stall converter, so what is the point dumping a bunch of cash into something for medial results? Also, the Taco aftermarket is geared towards either offroading or cosmetic upgrades. Like most around here, I would rather my truck do truck duty, rather than run an 11 second 1/4 mile. So yeah, if your looking to turn your Taco into a drag track machine, then you are in the wrong forum. Just look at how much trouble it is to get in the 12's with one of these. You can buy several models of cars that will run 12's with a few easy, cheap mods. But none of them are any good when the pavement ends.

And if people start getting nasty....then fellow forum members jump in and help out and 'make it right'.

^exactly like what everyone is doing now. Honestly this is my first truck ever and my first real car ever and if it was not for this site I would be another dim witted 18 year old kid who didn't know a damn thing about cars. Due to the fact that people on here are so friendly and helpful I have learned A TON about it all and I know there is more to come.

I noticed the same thing but this is still the best Tacoma forum I've been to for general info and good people.

Here and customtacos are the only places I've been to where people actually seek out the scooped hoods (which is straight up factory rice). I do think it looks cool anyway though, but I personally wouldn't want it being that it doesn't serve a real purpose.

Also, 1 reason it seems to be that way is because the truck is more than capable right off the dealer lot if you make the right choice as far as packages/options. Unless you're doing some really hardcore stuff you don't need to do anything to the truck. Its pretty much limited to lifts and tires/wheels and minor visual changes to 'make it your own' and accessories for camping/doing whatever, on this site AND most others. The stock v6 has more than enough power to do anything you wanna do with this size truck, you can already pull more than the truck can safely handle given its size, and if you wanna go racing around you don't need to look any further than a supercharger.

I still have a nasty Camaro and have been on those perf oriented forums. Addicting in their own way. I also had a Chevy S-10 pickup before my Tacoma and those forums, at least lately, were more biased to fixing the darned things just to keep 'em running. Now I have a new Tacoma and, you know, it is good for the purpose almost as is. No major "perf" mods required, at least for me and my V-6 daily driver. I am more interested in audio, security, and maintenance. You other guys can do your lifts and adornments, etc. To each his own and this is a good forum for all. But I won't be dropping any cams in, or headers, etc. I have my Camaro for that.

I'm scratching my head a bit by the OP. Looking through his 8 posts (thus far), 2 were legitimate questions that were quickly and accurately answered while the rest are mostly snide remarks or complaints about "rice". Seems someone's self-loathing due to their recent vehicular choice.

Regarding the "nasty Camaro", how happy were you with the thing and how muffled was it? One of your posts complains about how you could hear the Tacoma air intake at WOT with the K&N and thus removed it. Was your Camaro silent?

If you're looking for specific information, ask. Someone on this site will answer and you'll get the information you need. I rarely post questions, but when I do I almost always get the right answer.

If an answer isn't available, it's usually because I'm doing something a bit out of the ordinary. Same might go for you, and in that case props for being innovative and post the results.

Relax a bit. You bought a quality truck. It's not a huge American v8 and it's not a loud Harley, but it'll prove more reliable and enjoyable than either when used for its intended purpose.

For the record, I've put 40,000 miles on a Harley and still own the thing. It's a pig and can barely get out of its own way even after working the top end but it's still cool in its own way. I also have an American diesel truck that's excellent for towing, which is it's purpose. For fun offroad I have the Tacoma, and to compensate for the Harley's lack of power on sunny days I have a Triumph. I've got 20,000 miles on that and it's a fast, powerful beast that always puts a smile on my face.

Realize that each vehicle it designed for a certain type of use. You bought a foreign truck. Get over the "rice" idea and start enjoying your purchase!

Alot of people do bigger tires, suspension, etc. Which technically, those are performance mods when you're talking about this kind of vehicle. Remember, performance doesn't solely mean speed. People here are more interested in off road performance rather than go fast performance. That's the whole point of buying a truck. The OP just seems to be trolling.

I did the cowbell mod before the fuzzy dice mod, will that void the TSB on my springs?

Unfortunatly...Yes. To Add. The ECU has now logged the Cowbell, and even if you remove it, the dealer will know the cowbell was installed.
