    I am pretty satisfied.
I have a '12 with V6 & s/c. The only issue I had with the s/c is when I first had it installed. It gives the engine a different "high-pitched" sound that took a while for me to get used to. My gas mileage is about the same 17-18mpg, but the only downside is now I have to use premium gas. When I am towing, is when I can tell the difference the s/c makes

If Toyota offered the Tacoma in a V8, I'll line up for one. For now, I'm hoping for a good deal on a s/c to pop up.

My 6 speed does just fine. I didn't buy it to go fast though. I did buy it to lift it and slap some big heavy tires on it to drive off road though. And it does that great :D

I have my crotch rocket for when I really want to go fast :D

I would be to , I dnt need a tank size truck like the tundra , but a throaty v8 would be nice . Fuel milage would be comparable I bet .

I hate to say it but I think the taco 4.0 sounds ugly with a aftermarket exhaust .

These trucks aren't even close to quick or fast. With a supercharger they might be ok, but I havent ridden in one so I couldn't say for sure.

My first 7-8 trucks I owned were 82-93 4 cylinder toyota 4x4's. Slap a set of 33's on one of those without a ring and pinion swap and you have one seriously slow rig. Like downshift to third on some hills just to maintain highway speed slow. So when I bought my first 98 V6 new I thought it was pretty quick. Then I drove an 05 4 cylinder and thought it was about as quick as the 3.4. So I bought it without even driving a V6. Then I needed a double cab. I don't think it's "fast" but I doubt I could go back. It's certainly more than enough power for what it is. I'm actually shocked at how well it tows a loaded car trailer.

I still love the old trucks though. Someday I'm going to build the 89 I have.

It's not slow but it could use another 200hp.

Auto can't control rpm at launch, that was my coworkers complaint after I beat him to 60 a couple times. The six speed is difficult to get the hang of when shifting quick, especially 1st to 2nd at high rpm without grinding. But once you do, combine it with a good launch and it's faster than the auto.

Who cares about being fast when you have an auto anyway? Theres zero skill, zero bragging rights. You push the pedal to the floor and then wait til its time to slow down.

Wife has a JSW TDI with the dual clutch. That is THE FUNNEST car I have ever driven. The shifts are super harsh and mechanically satisfying in auto. Definable difference in sport mode. In manual mode though it feels like it is thinking for a second which becomes distinctly frustrating quickly.

As it warms up leaving the driveway or a parking lot it lurches like a full manual, hanging on to low gears. Once warmed up and on the road it is all business.

I also don't want to pay to have it rebuilt. Hell, I don't want to pay to service it at 30,000.

Oh, and although the numbers on the Tacoma say it is fast, it 'feels' slow. My 05 KC Nismo felt faster although in reality it was supposed to be slower.

For what it is though, plenty quick. I have not had the transmission update and it does hang on the downshifts. I have gotten used to it though and just predict the downshift and smoothly coast through it.

These trucks are not fast....if you want fast ...lbuy a car....even my worked engine in my 70 Chevy does not feel fast....and that has 375ish hp. Like previous post it's all relative.
