After offroading a couple weeks ago i noticed that my fan was hitting the bottom left (driver side) part of the fan shroud and took out a chunk.

Its an 06 so i freaked out about the frame being collapsed in by the motor mounts but , those are still solid. The actual motor mounts look good as well too. I will take some pictures later,

Is there anything else it could be or anything i could check for (Truck has 67k miles and has the towng package pink fan/v6/auto/)

    thanks

Check your transmission mount. If it is busted it might be holding your trans higher and causing the front of the motor to drop. Also check the radiator support and make sure it is not loose. Just some ideas.

Are you sure the engine cover is seated properly?... you do have a CAI into it.

Any chance the fan's shroud got kicked up into the blades?

The engine cover is seated properly and i followed the fan spacing with my fingers and it definitely is a lot closer in that entire bottom section.

It doesn't drive like it has bad engine mounts so I'm going to check the trans mounts and cross members tomorrow morning

Something is bent...might be a twisted frame rail too. Try to put a jack under the oil pan and jack it up a little to see if the fan clears...if it does find out where the slop is at. When you bottom out the suspension the shock towers flex inward, along with the whole frame rail... check clearance of the upper aluminum part of the oil pan to the front diff. Mine was so bad it knocked a hole in the pan...not fun to change.

Definitely things I'm going to check fingers crossed on something simple pushing the trans up and front of the engine down

I had the same thing happen to my truck truck about two years ago and it ended up being the left motor mount. It didn't collapse but it was cracked and that was enough for the fan to hit the shroud and it hit even more when in reverse. Engine sat like yours and hit in the same spot.

Could you tell it was cracked? i couldn't really tell but I'm sure at almost 70k and a good amount of wheeling they could need to be replaced, was it hard?

When it comes to these Tacomas I think there is a little confusion around the motormounts. Typically when people say motor mounts people think of the rubber mounts that dampen the jarring of the motor. These:

When people talk about motor mounts on here they are usually referring to the actual frame mounts that the motor mounts bolt to. Like in your picture here. These are what Username was talking about that broke on him. I can't tell for sure in your pictures but they seem to look fine.

Oh okay thanks. Yeah mine are very solid. and it looks like they have been reinforced up top. I was referring to the actual rubber motor mount i can't tell if its bad but it doesn't look bad.

Yes, it was cracked at the weld (frame was replaced).

After looking at your picture again, it looks fine. Hope it's an easy fix for you man.

A common but somewhat unsafe way tell if a motor or trans mount separated is to load the the driveline by putting it in reverse or drive while applying the brakes to see if it lifts the engine more than it should in one direction or another.

It is sketchy to stick yourself under the truck or in front of it while someone is working the pedals.

    Proceed at your own risk.

Generally if the mount is bad you can feel the thud of when the engine lets back down on the mount when you let off the throttle.

As for the trans mount you can just take it out and look at it. It is not as hard to access as the engine mount.

Easy enough to do if he has an auto. Just put it in reverse and the person can stand in front just fine. The driver will stand on the brake pedal hard, pop it in reverse and easy into the throttle. You can get it up to about 2000 rpm easily but you shouldn't need to go that high.
