Has anyone else (particularly black sand pearl owners) noticed that during the winter or cold weather, the exhaust fumes dull the paint on the fender? I've heard of people dumping there exhaust so that there isn't an exhaust pipe but I have not clue what that means. Is anyone familiar with this process? I don't want to use a chrome exhaust tip that the dealership provides as a warranty fix for the dull paint. All thoughts are welcome and thanks in advance!

Dumping is making the Exhaust point to the ground, Hence Dumping. its dumping straight to the ground.

i had my tacos exhaust dumped before the axle, so kinda under the cab, and it was annoyingly loud. if you dump it, do it after the axle;)

Right now my exhaust is dumped before the axle, even with the long tube headers, its quiet during cruising, but sounds very burly in-cab under loads.

Its going to be very dependent on your muffler choice.

So if the exhaust was cut somewhere after the muffler so that it exhausts closer to the spare tire and not the actual rear fender do you think it would be louder? I'm sorry for the dumb questions. I'm not much of a hands on auto guy. Basically just know how to put gas in and install stereo. I just know that I'm sick of the paint getting damaged and then buffed out again.

Miikey - I'm curious to know what was your motivation to do this? Does it help peformance in some regard or was it strictly to make the exhaust less visible?

its louder and i dont like the fact that my exhaust is going to get hot and i might accidently hit it with my leg.. or my dog might run into it so its more of a concealed thing. and over time it will ruin your pain, if you ever look at some cars, you will notice the big black shit on the bumper or around it.

But for those with color matching bumpers on the TRD Sport we don't have that luxury. :)

I dumped me exhaust because of fitment. There is currently enough room to run a tail pipe over my axle, so it is dumped just before.

Before i added the turndown, it was VERY loud in cab, it is much quieter for me. I've got a video of my exhaust here --> New exhaust system (its a couple posts into the thread).

    Dumping exhaust reasons:

Loud on the outside even louder on the insider
    Saves paint
Some people just don't like the look of a tail pipe
Off-Road purposes (so you don't crush it)

So I guess my next question would be what negative affects of dumping the exhaust exist. Does the exhaust under the truck corrode any of the lines or ruin anything else under there? Seems as though car manufacturers have a reason for the exhaust to come out the rear or side of the vehicle rather than underneath it. This is where I'm thinking of dumping mine, just right behind the rear axle where the pipe turns down naturally. I think cutting it here would also alleviate the necessity of welding on a turndown. Thoughts?
