    Yup :( but oh, well...

snow will fall off soon, so you can see them

I heard on the weather that a lot of places already have more snow this year than they got all of last year...

4.5 days of work this week and then we shut the college down until 6 January. Woo Hoo!

By the way, I was able to close the deal on the $2.5mil donation to the college last week. A good way to end the semester.

Goodbye Mike...Hello Tex[IMG]. Actually the change wasn't necessary, but thanks for making it easier for us oldsters to know who's on first...or is he on third:notsure:

Enjoy the time off Mark, and [IMG]CONGRATULATIONS[IMG] on closing the deal on the 2.5 million. You must really feel good about it.

Busy weekend, but had a bit of an issue with the Tacoma. Still helping the son move and when I went over to his old rental, I was backing up to his front door and had to put the Taco in 4LO to get over the pile of snow the plow deposited there. After I loaded up and got back out I couldn't get it out of 4Lo. I had to drive to his new house with the speed limited because of the gearing. I tried different things when I got to his house to no avail. When we were leaving, I had the switch in 2HI and I noticed the 4LO light wasn't lit when I started the truck. Finally the 4 wheel drive light went out but it was still locked in 4Lo until I got about 20 feet while backing out of his driveway, then I felt the shifting bump and was back to normal. I hope I don't need 4Lo until the summer[IMG].
Mark & Carl, heard on the weather report this morning that we are in for a heat wave this weekend...Flirting close to the 50's[IMG]

    Morning Ken.
Hope the 4Lo thing was a one off. I believe we have close to the same truck configuration. I've switched mine in and out of 4Lo a lot here recently. The hill in front of Randy's (work carpool/hunting & fishing partner) house got so bad in the freezing rain that 4Lo has been the only way to ease up and down it w/o spinning all four tires and risking sliding off into the woods. Hope mine doesn't start acting flakey. I expect the signals got crossed up somewhere. Kind of makes one miss the days of manual hubs and manual transfer cases, huh?
    Have a great day.

EDIT: 50 degrees  break out the T-shirts and shorts. :D

 Morning Cap'n. You do stay busy. :) Pics remind me I need to run snow blower over driveway in the morning. Too bad the neighbors aren't night shifters, I'd be out there now. ;) Of course the bigger threat would be if I woke up Kristi and the grand kids. So after waking up a little past midnight here I am watching John Wayne movies and monitoring TW. Might slip in another nap before the house comes to life, not feeling it again just yet. curse of the night shifter, but I still prefer it over playing day shift reindeer games; did enough of that in my 14 yrs in Superintendent jobs on active duty.

    4 hours Cap ;)
But yep, I really don't mind. I was never good at keeping my mouth shut on politically correct crap driving stupid decisions ... even when I was still on active duty. The way things are getting these days, even as civil service, that last hour before my shift ends, when all "Bobs" starting showing up, gets tough to bite my lip and not comment. If I had to spend my whole 9 hour shift listening to it, I'd get myself fired for sure. :D

Congratulations Mark. That's a nice Christmas gift for your college.

Our semester finished early last week and final exams began late last week and will continue through this week. Then, I will make the final preparations for my course work for next semester. Sure do love this semi-retired business where I just need to focus on teaching rather than on research, publishing, and committee work. Nevertheless, two colleagues and I (from different universities) will shortly begin work on the third edition of a social psychology textbook we first published in 2005. And, no, if anybody is wondering, I will not become rich on the royalties :)(),although the book seems to be selling fairly well throughout the English-speaking world.

On a totally unrelated note, our deep-freeze weather (-15C) the past few days has kept me from bow hunting. It's just too dang cold to be sitting in a tree stand for several hours. However, it is supposed to warm up by Thursday (+4C) so I'm hoping to get out then. Our bow season for deer ends December 31. Love me some venison. :)

Good afternoon guys. My son has mid-terms this week and I need to go downstairs and help him with the studying.

We've been driving on it last couple days. So I left base and went old school with the shovel to clear the powder off the top. Here's a couple pics for Susan. Won't be light for a little while yet.

A different topic .... one that I'm sure has been touched upon in some thread on this website, but I really don't want to spend the time searching.

I've always been a huge fan of Consumer Reports and their testing methods and recommendations for various products. I read with interest their annual (April) auto issue. For a number of years they have tested a TRD Off-Road version of the Tacoma and "RECOMMENDED" it .... until this year. They would not recommend it. They usually complain about the low driving position and high step-in. What the heck?? It's not a low-rider but a vehicle designed for off-road use and I NEVER considered it a problem with my 07 or current 12.

I reckon as the geriatric crowd you guys would provide the best input. Have these two issues ever been a problem for you ?

My GOLDEN RULE: Do unto others before they do unto you.
