Sup guys, I bought my 05 back in june with 88k miles on it. My frame has a little surface rust here and there, but overall I would say it's in great shape, even the notorious spot by the catalytic converters. The truck's been in NJ its whole life, where we get a decent amount of salt on the roads in the winter. This being said, my question is: Is there anyone out there that has a high mileage 05 and has NOT had a problem with rust? How long can I expect my taco to last?

Probably anyone south of the Mason-Dixon line

Toyota has already replaced a fair amount of frames from the 2005's, just like the 1st Gens. It's just not as widespread and publicized because there's nothing official yet.

No problems here, just a little surface rust on the frame of my 2005. Only 90k on the ODO.

Maybe it's time to move down south lol.

It's been a pretty cold week in nj, and I spent every night after school and work thawing out my hose and spraying everything down. Other than that, is there anything else I can do? I'm about to give fluid film a try

Good to hear, do you use any type of spray or undercoating?

All you can really do is keep up with washes when the weather warms up, run it through an automated wash with an undercarriage wash. Fluid Film will definitely help but you have to apply it every year. As long as you do something to stay ahead of the rust, you'll be just fine.

It's supposed to get warm later in the week so I think i'm gonna order a fluid film kit off Amazon. I'm not trying to owe 13k on a truck with a swiss cheese frame

My girlfriend's sister's boyfriend has an 05 and his frame just has normal rust. Nothing too bad. Idk his ODO though. I would guess 80-90k miles.
