Nice stash. I have those black diamond lights. Not bad for such a compact lantern. In fact I hang mine up in my rtt as a dome light. Good battery life too

Great stove and you got it a great price :D. Hopefully you got the griddle too, if not you can pick one up on Amazon. The grate I find a bit difficult to really grill on but it does work. I use the griddle the most. Does a fantastic job for cooking Scrapple!

To all the naysayers who say winches are not important..

Used mine to save my ass twice today. Rain on snow, on top of ice. Not fun.

Hit a couple off-camber sections that put the rear wheels about a foot from a 2,000 drop off. Applying more power just caused the truck to slide sideways. Don't like that kind of snow, it's totally unpredictable. Definitely hit some pucker factor on that one. No pictures, that's the way it always goes.

Seriously contemplating a rear winch, could have belayed myself down..

Yeah it wasn't too fun.. Steep grade, camber towards the downhill and that slick ice/snow shit. Should've turned around earlier. Really glad the temperature didn't drop and turn it all to ice..

Sucks you can't chain up all four on these rigs.

Should've known it was going to be an interesting day after seeing the Sheriff's Deputy and drug dog out in the middle of the woods 25 miles from anywhere.. Talked to him for a second and he waved us by, was a little odd.

I'm curious to where you are finding anyone that thinks winches are not important? Mall Crawlers....maybe. Nobody that actually uses their truck will question the value of a winch.

x2! That was my first thought when I read his post. haha I'd love to have a winch and for now have just relied on there being someone in the group that has one when I go wheeling. That has saved me all but 1 time now. haha

and that one time we had just enough tow strap and a nice tree for my hi-lift to save me.

yeah, a winch is can an expensive mod and difficult for some to make happen. Just be sure you are wheeling with someone that has a winch. I still don't have a winch on my Tacoma, but I don't go out without someone that does.

Can't really cite any specific examples; and I think most of it comes from over on Expo.. Just remember a few threads where guys were adamant that winches weren't necessary..

More common than you would think for a majority of people on ExPo

yea not too surprised i guess..most have basic rigs and don't do anything close to what we would consider a real trail ever.

but thats okay. Different strokes for different folks.

we just happen to like bashing our stuff more :D

Mehh.. Settled at $475. Don't want to price gouge him; just have a lot of time in this first set - all of the dimensions/angles were off the top of my head.

Think that's kind of the "friend" rate. Seems as though $150 to $200 is common for both CMC and slider installation (separately).

The truth of it is that traditionally "real" overland travel is not about "bashing" or running any difficult terrain. In fact the routes are usually planned to avoid any difficult terrain because the goal of most traditional overland travel is a particular journey or destination in remote areas where it is a good idea to avoid potential breakdowns and challenges.

So the ExPo crowd is more "cautious" I suppose with pretty basic rigs for the most part, but they aren't really a departure from what the standard is.
