    True. Good points.

i guess then a better way to say it is i guess you and i and others are going more for a..."all arounder" type rig/style driving. We try not to limit ourselves too much.

Least i know thats what i like to do and i know you have said your goal is a good all around rig to take you as many places possible too.

I know i have nothing against a good ole plain dirt road long as it leads somewhere new and exciting.

I agree with the above sentiment..

Ugh, those Nevada "Survivors" are all over the news..

Had a really long discussion with a friend about them. I love how none of the mainstream media outlets are discussing how they ventured out without checking the weather, notifying anyone where they were going or even having any basic survival gear.

    Pathetic.

I've done stupid things plenty of time, but none of them involved the lives of 4 children.

It's one thing for the ignorance of 2 adults leading to their own death.. A whole other thing if it led to the death of 4 kids.

Because there's a target audience that'll pay that much. Plain and simple.

I struggle to grapple with the Fuso/EarthRoamer size rigs.. By maybe it's because I don't have $500k laying around.

Must admit, when I saw the pic, i was pissed too. As a father of 4, I go overboard on gear and survival needs to protect them. We post on FB and tell neighbors our plans. I even have a sat phone for emergencies. (or that quick TW fix in the wild)

    buy 2-3 tacomas..

but those rigs are for like traveling continents on just roads. Like imagine doing all of africa in 3 years..or Australia..or anywhere. Living out of them for years.

like a motorhome..just bit more capable.

Oh, yeah, think of those 44" snow tires and engine/ drivetrain upgrades. Lighting and glass, armor, but yeah. Those are a glorified Motor home and priced as such. Not complaining. If I was given one, I would use it.

Theres electronics that would put us over the edge also. Cameras, AV, Lighting.

No doubt there bad ass but I feel like with the right knowledge someone could build a similar rig for under 50k..

How do you figure? The base price of those vehicles is right in that ball park?

Well not exactly a brand new f650 but if you found a older f350 power stroke for right around 20k then had 30k for mods I feel like you could make a very capable rig. I didn't mean you could buy a brand new f650 and do it all yourself for 50k haha

Yes, that is possible. Buy the truck first, the R&D in that camper is where they are making the bread and butter. The truck alone is almost 50k. But that camper, you could build one of your own, might be in the 20k range if made from Aluminum. The Fiberglass and ovens to cook it is where they are spending money.
