Hey all, anyone tried this rear disk brake conversion from this company?

    http://tundraracing.com/rbck.htm

I heard some others changed out the entire rear end to a tundra or older 4runner to get the disk brakes in the rear, but i really dont want to do that. This site claimes you keep your O.E master cylinder, ABS & Traction Control System.

Edit: Also just FYI i heard that the tacoma does not get great gains from this but for me it would mostly be for looks..

The rear drums on our trucks work just fine. Seems like a lot of work and money just for looks.

If you decide to do it post up some pictures and a write up :)

I agree... But your grill is out in the open for all to see. Disk brakes on the rears... someone would have to be looking and knowledgeable that our trucks didn't come from the factory like that. I'm all about spending money... just doesn't seem like a good place to put it towards.

Yeah I agree with B Turner. If it doesn't really make that much of a difference and hardly anyone would see it then I wouldn't do it. But that's just me man! You should get a sunroom installed or something haha. Maybe lift if you dont have one.

I put their conversion on my 04 Tundra DC when I first bought it and regretted it. For one, I had a very early version of their kit and finding replacement pads was a pain. But most importantly, it did absolutely nothing for my truck other than looks, no benefit at all to braking performance. I would never do it again, especially on my Taco.

Brakes. One thing not to fuck with if not broken on the truck.

If I could upgrade my fronts to bigger brakes first, then I might consider.... but thats not looking like its gonna happen on 17s.

Tacoma already has best in class braking performance. If it aint broke, don't fix it.

Most people upgrade because of tires FYI. It'll still stop on stock brakes, but it ain't as pretty.

The fact that I stand on the brakes to make quick stop. I can't handle it but there's no way my girlfriend ever could and is why I don't let her drive.

Interesting, my brakes are so over sensitive I could really use a less sensitive pedal. I tap the brakes and my forehead bounces off the wind shield. This is with the electric brake booster.

X2. I get plenty of practice hammering my brake pedal here in the land of blind old drivers and "#420yolo" Dudebros (Florida) and the only issue I have is the seatbelt leaving marks on my shoulder. :D
