    Out of 6.2 liters.

In the words of Jeremy Clarkson: how do they do so little with so much?

In stock form that pushrod equipped relic only puts out 450hp. 72.58 hp/liter. The new M3 does 103.5 hp/liter. Hell, the older S54 equipped E36 M3 had 104 hp/liter.

I'd say for the core chevy v8 engine design being from the 50's era... it's pretty damned good. And it's not like... they couldn't get a lot more power out of it if they wanted to.

But why don't they? Is it not supposed to be the iconic American super car? It looks nice, sounds great, but why not make it as fast as it looks?

They really should have taken the old ZR1 concept and gone that way. Embrace technology that has been around for half a century and have things like overhead cams.

Yeah but did you guys think that this is only the base model. They couldn't just release a balls out car. They are developing a Z06 or 7 (not sure what to call it) and then maybe eventually make a ZR1 which I think will be insane on that chassis.

I'd say its all about cost and making money, they have Z06 and ZR1's in the next level performance which dominate RWD for dollars in the C6. The C7 Z06/ZR1 will prob be rediculous. AWD and mid engine will prob be the next step when they go to the C8. Should be interesting to see the 2016 upgrades and what they can do.

I kind of doubt it. I bet it will be a pushrod relic with a front engine rear wheel drive only setup. Because that's what the vette has always been and always seems to be.

They were talking AWD and Mid for the C7 until the bailout. The C7 will go for at close to 10 years like the C6 did. Godzilla is killing anything and everything with its AWD and that is being a pig with 4 seats, RWD can't compete in handling competion. Sure they will continue to drop weight and increase hp and it will be one hell of a ride and I love it, I have a 7 liter. But, sooner or later like you said, they have to get with the times, ie the mustang dropping the solid rear axle after 50 years...

You realize you are surrounded with mesicans here right? Being a border state and all......
Coffins makes me think Arizona Mills. You should have just posted and asked us lol.

Holy jesus talk about relic's :D Still gets hot though. You running C02 on that pig to get the heat up?

Tor had rear mount and put down some good numbers, then he went front mount, now I think he is no mount. IDK he goes through motors like Jake goes through replacement parts.

Relic indeed, over half a century with pushrod. They will most likely go turbo next as Emissions is the new standard to meet esp with their truck line bogging those stats down.

As for the new M3/M4's the amount of power/liter that the inline twins put out is sexy, more bottom end then the previous 4.7 8's. Makes me kinda want one. However I am still partial to the A45 AMG, 180hp/liter out of a 2.0L 4cyl with 4matic double clutch flappy panel gear box is what sexes my nips up.
