I got $1500 off of mine new. Build date April, purchase date April. I think Toyota was trying to push them out the door. It was also a 4 cylinder manual regular cab so probably not popular.

...build date 10/13, bought 11/23/2013. Roll of the dice on when exactly mine was built. Before mid Oct. or after mid Oct. Kinda sucks waiting for the letter.
    2014 regular cab, 2-wd, black btw.

Got my recall letter today. Got my AC Prerunner the last weekend in August, so I figured it was just a matter of time.

    RRipRor,

Hope you like your topper! Thanks for the heads up regarding recall. I have sent the dealer a letter, since I too fall into the same category; build date on door says 10/13. If this recall notice went out Nov. 7th, not sure why dealers didn't inform us when we negotiated/purchased our trucks Mid November.
Anyway, enjoy your truck. My new tires look great with the topper, So now I have the truck the way I want it, and then have to hear about possible recall; pretty disappointing.

Well, I just found out, via phone call from the dealer general manager, that my truck was built on 10/11/2013, and is not part of the recall. He also said this was the first he had heard about the recall. Anyway, I was much appreciative of the quick reply to my email about this, and the news.

    RRipRor,
You might want to call/email your dealer and find out. It worked for me.

    Take care!

...hey Robode!, I'm really happy with the A.R.E. 'Z' model topper, especially having the regular cab.

... that's great to hear you slipped by the recall, your face dropped a little when I informed you about that.

...you'll have to post a pic of the finished rig. Was a pleasure to meet you and good luck out on the mean streets this winter.

...one other thing, angie at 'toppers and more' told us not to rub the paint on our new toppers for 90 days but the warranty paper work from A.R.E. say's 60 days. Probably just play it safe and go the full 90.

Yea, I saw that too, about the 90 days and 60 days. I already got it washed; the place near to where I live is touchless, so I have a clean truck for one day. Glad you like your topper. Here is a picture of my truck. Love the Michelin tires!!! Nice meeting you too!

Got my recall notice from Toyota a few days ago. Does it make sense to hold off the repair for awhile until the dealership mechanics acquire additional experience with the "fix" of other recall engines before working on my engine?

How long should one anticipate the truck being in the shop for this kind of repair?

Dropped my truck off on Thursday afternoon and they called me late Friday to let me know it was finished. It was time for my 5,000 service so they did it all at the same time. Put about 600 miles on it over the next 2 days, so things are back to normal.:)
