I think Hogue makes a better stock (I run the youth stock and have for about 10 years on my HD shotgun), so I wouldn't think too highly about that deal. Definitely better than no 870...

i saw them and they are nice, but there is also a trigger group that does the same thing for like $500, whereas the stock is like $250... just seems like a price difference to me :notsure:

I've heard of competition shotguns that shoot on trigger release rather than trigger pull.

Anybody able to recommend a nice and fairly inexpensive (under $650) rifle chambered in a 300 win mag? I looked at the Remington 700 and thought it was just ok.. Didn't like the feel of the bolt. I will be using the rifle for deer and elk mostly. Thanks all

You may be able to get a Ruger Hawkeye around that price, I know up here the stainless/synthetic is 730 new. Also like stated above the Tikka T3 has lots of good reviews, only negative i've found is people saying the recoil is pretty nasty in the larger calibers. I myself am looking for a 300wm and have been heavily considering it.

Update on my Mossberg 535 issue. I got tired of waiting so I tried the fix on my own. It's just bending the piece that holds the shells in place a bit so it engages the shell a little more. We'll see if it works next time I get it out.

Here's why I finally decided to go about it on my own (other than I had some free time and felt like toying with a torch :)):
E-mail sent to Mossberg about the issue - Nov. 13
Response from Mossberg - Dec. 9 asking me for more info so they could send me a shipping label to send the shotgun back to them.
Info sent - Dec. 10 and since then it's been radio silence.

I'm not sure I'm ever going to see that shipping label and I got impatient. If my fix works, I won't bother sending it back to them.

i was gonna say a squib round, but that seems unlikley given the placement and that i dont think the plastic wad would really get stuck enough to cause that.

maybe lots of rounds through a cold auto too fast and stress fractured it?

it's a shotgun, 12ga mossberg maverick 88, shot 25 rds of target shot and 15ish rounds of 00 buckshot. i guess it blew on the last shot (which was oddly loud) but we were in a hurry to clean up and I didn't notice till this morning.
