Hi everyone, new to the forum. Just wanted all you guy's input on whether I am getting a good deal or not. From a week of shopping around, it seems like a decent deal to me. Its a 2008 V6, Toyota Tacoma TRD SPORT Black, crew cab, Extended warranty is good for 100,000 or until May 2015 whichever comes first. It has just under 24 thousand miles. There are some scratches, and a hairline crack on the windshield from a rock which was filled in to prevent from spreading.

He had it advertise for 23k...but got it down to 20k.
This is a private party btw

    Thank you everyone!

ehh. it didnt sound too bad until you mentioned the hairline crack in the windshield. mileage is a tad high for being one year old but the warranty is pretty good. 20k still is decent.

heck i dont know, i really don't like the fact it has that hairline crack. if it were me, id have the windshield replaced courtesy of the dealership before i bought it

He said the fix was permanent. Wouldn't replacing the glass cost around 300? Thanks for your input

i just got a quick quote from safelite.com, $207.95 and maybe an extra $29.95 for moldings or anything else they may have to mess with. i'm kind of a perfectionist so the crack would annoy me. as for the scratches you can use meguiars colorx or scratchx to get that out.

$20,000 is a pretty good deal, considering the warranty and the year. i'd try to knock him down a little more, but if you can't then no big deal. all in all, you know what your max is so go with that. when i bought my tacoma i went in there saying i will not go over $23,000 and i did not go over that.

woundering the same, thats exensive if its a prerunner(if you ask me), but its pretty cheap for a 4x4

Here in canada I think it's illegal to sell a vehicle with a broken windshield... look into it

yeah i definitely didn't think about it possibly being a prerunner, is it looked just like mine so i assumed. if its a prerunner that might be a little high but still its pretty reasonable.

Damn you! This is the deal I can't find...you should tell him 18.5K and if he doesn't go for that, 19K then buy the thing!!! Well, whatever it takes as long as you aren't above 20K then just buy it! I would've jumped on that ASAP if I could find it.

Im wondering if I should just buy a brand new 09? What would a new 09 cost after haggling for the exact setup like this?

20k is fine for what your getting anything less then that seems like he would be giving it away at least that's how I see it.

You can get a 09 for probably $27k or $28K with the exact same setup. I'd personally pick up the 08 because I can't stand some of the the new standard features on the 09s.

different packages will affect the price. You pay more for a TRD truck then you would for a sr5 package, short bed compared to long bed, etc. I got mine for $27 otd.

    BUILT, not bought...

    x2

20K is a fairly good deal for an '08.

The mileage is a bit high, but as long as all the maint. has been performed you are in great shape.

As for windshield chips/cracks you should consider getting glass coverage form your insurance company.

As for scratches, it happens. These trucks come painted with very soft paint, and it chips easily. Depending one the severity of the scratches, I would say pull the trigger/ hammer down and buy the rig if YOU truly want it.

do a search as there are several threads on here about '09 pricing. I personally paid $23,561 for my '09 Double Cab Prerunner Sport, and that was with $1000 trade equity factored in and the sales tax savings.

I think you should be able to get that same set up new for under $25,000. If you are a USAA member, you can use their buying service free of charge and will definitely be under $25K as that's how I got my pricing. Good luck and don't settle. And last piece of advice, get the color you really want as I settled on color on my previous vehicle and regretted it every day I owned it.

Personally I'd go brand new if it's in your budget. People seem to be getting great deals now a days with financing rates and dealer incentives and markdowns. Thats my opinion and I'm sure many will disagree.
