I tried searching but didnt really know what to search for so i figured i would ask yall! so i got in my truck today after getting out of school and everything was fine, went to leave school and kinda gassed it a little and my truck almost dies/surges, so i took it to the Toyota place and waited for a hour and a half for them to tell me the problem. Turns out they found nothing and the truck wasn't throwing any codes or doing any thing suspicious, was hoping the good people of tacoma world could give me some insight!

The truck is a 2006 trd sport access cab with 118k miles on it with a v6 and a automatic trans.

A couple possibilities are bad gas or a dirty fuel filter.

Ditto. I had the same response in my 91 chevy. About every 25000 miles I had to change the fuel filter as it would cut out at 2500-3000 rpm.

well that's the only thing i can think of that would cause it, just strange because I've got my gas a that station for a while now and never had any problems! I hope its not the fuel filter because that guy at Toyota was telling it its like $600 to replace that, witch he could be telling me a load of shit haha!

Now that you mention that price it may because the 2006 does not have an inline filter. Earlier years had an inline located under the drivers door attached to the frame, but I think Toyota changed it to an in tank filter which they claim is lifetime which is also dumb. So if yours has an in tank and no inline it may be very costly to replace if the gas tank has to be dropped.

How old is your battery? This may sound odd but I have an infiniti G37 that did the same thing, battery would start the car fine but would cause same issues you described. Changed battery out an problem disappeared. have your battery load tested, if its weak replace it

Sorry i haven't been able to get back with you, been super busy but the people at the Toyota place couldn't tell me a damn thing....so i just started at the top of the list pretty much and went down and i figured i would try something that cost $20 over $650! It was a bit strange that the relay wasn't throwing a code in the computer at the Toyota place! but i do appreciate everyone's help and maybe this post could possibly help out some people one day!!
