It was a chilly ride in this morning! Black ice was horrible. Almost lost control of the truck twice.

How long is your ride to work? Mine was up to temperature within 10 minutes of driving and doesn't drop at red lights.

Wow, that blows! I wonder if his insurance will cover the loss.

Probably will..my buddy's truck rolled into Hingham Harbor when we were growing up and that did get paid for, although it was the E-brake cable letting go not his idiocy that did it

-10 at my place this morning. I started the truck 10 minutes before I left, and I was still almost to the highway before it started blowing warm air. Normally if I start it that early it's blowing warm air when I get in, haha!

What's DY? I was actually staying in Durham, without the GPS in it approximates location. I work in freeport 3 days a week usually

Went out to the truck this morning and my entire windshield spider cracked over night. Yesterday a car threw a stone up and hit the bottom left corner, leaving a small crater. No deductible for full replacement and the guys are coming out on Friday to replace.

Hopefully new glass wont have those permanent suction cup marks on it.

    Question:
I am looking to get a snow blower (new house has long driveway, shoveling is out of the question). I see a bunch of used ones on Craigslist but any recommendations on the horsepower I might need?

Airens are always a good bet. Honestly the biggest you can afford will make you life easier. I have an 8hp, 27" wide old snapper and when the snow is heavy sometimes it doesn't throw too far. 8hp will work fine for most situations, but 10 + I'd nice to have

I agree. It is like a shed or garage no matter how big it is you will fill it and need more. Bigger is better.

The more, the better. Mine is a 10 hp and I think 28" +/- and it's perfect for a short to medium sized driveway. It's got some good range on it and throws the heavy stuff just fine. I would definitely go for a 2 stage also, single stages suck once you get some real snow on the ground. I'm not up on which brands are the best now, mine is an old MTD with a Tecumseh engine.

Good morning guys!!!!! Holy shit it's cold. I can't take it anymore. When I was big and had so much fat on me, I would stay warm but now that I lost 126 lbs, I'm skinny and I can feel the cold on my bones and I hate it. Doesn't help that I've been outside for the past 2 days also. Had to trailer the project jeep home.
Took forever but it's done. Can't wait to go to the gym later and sit in the hot tub and not move my ass haha. Dreaming of the warmth lol

Idk about the hp but don't buy yard machine brand. They sell it at lowes and it is a piece of crap. Kept breaking on us and needed repairs a lot. Go for ariens brand. They last forever and they do a great job.

    AT LEAST 8.

I have a 4hp, but I have a small driveway so I can get away with it. Plus it was free.

    You need a tractor.
Not only are they useful as hell for other things around the house, you can clear your driveway a LOT faster. And if you've got your heart set on a snowblower, they make attachments for that :D
