Ill buy a couple tickets and would quit my job and take a trip to yellowstone in a brand new 4x4 tacoma.

Edit: new jackpot is 636 million.

you have a better chance of getting hit by lightning twice, then winning it.

Yeah, but you have ZERO chance of winning if you don't play at all!

Yeah, I know that the chances are super slim. I figure as long as you don't spend important money, then it really is no different than blowing a couple of dollars in some other way. Heck, skip the coffee in the morning one time and buy 3 tickets!

As for what I would do if I won 585 million:

First, you know that once you get the lump sum, and Uncle Sam gets his cut, you will have somewhere around 200 million. That being said I would take 2 million out and invest the rest for a year, using only the 2 million at the start to live on for that year.
With an easy-to-get return on investment of 2%, that is equal to $2 million per year for every $100 million invested. with $198 million invested, you can pretty much estimate $3.99 million per year in a ROI. I can happily live off of that for the rest of my life.

The $2 million in cash I took out I would pay off my father's house, my sister's house, and my brother's house. That would be about $250,000. Then I would want to buy a few nice things. Nothing outrageous. I have lived this long without being rich, I see no need in being stupid. That will just get you broke FAST. I would probably invest $750,000 into my business and open up 2 or 3 other locations.

    Just bought a couple tickets.

After hiring a financial planner and lawyer.

The first fun thing I would do is go pick up my 3 best friends and do whatever we could come up with. A straight week of travel, parties, and spending money. Then would come an unnecessarily giant house with a huge garage for all the Cars, trucks, and toys that would fill it up.

we have a bunch of people in a company pool. toss in a buck or two each, and we have a good 50+ entrys. payout is still over 13 mill per person if we win. $2 is a small price to pay for some good work place comradery :)

    Edit: i'd buy everything :goingcrazy:

I'll probably buy a ticket, but I'll also buy a powerball too. Figure nobody is playing that now. I would pay off the house, wife's student loans, take a trip, give some to the family, (none to in laws) donate to charity a bit, buy a lot somewhere and build a reasonable dream home. I would try to stay working, I like my job, but maybe scale back my role. I would go crazy with nothing to do or anyone around. But I would invest the vast majority.

Probably not gonna buy one but if I did then I'd pay off my student loan, buy a house and a piece of land and give some to family and close friends. I don't know why they do the lottery, most people who win big end up blowing it all in a few years and then they are worse off then before

Especially when you have to pay the taxes back to the same government that is sponsoring the lottery in the first place. That's a great racket, here give me a dollar, I'll give you back .50c because you won,, and then I'll take .25c back. I wish I could open a business did this.

I bought a few tickets, but as far as luck is concerned, if it were raining soup, I'd probably be standing outside with a fork in each hand.

Winning= Tahiti or some South Pacific island.
