Thinking about starting to collect some recovery gear for the truck. Also thinking about getting some speed bleeders like trail heads or stauns. I figure a couple d rings, a decent sized tree saver, a shovel, anything else? These are little inexpensive things I can add to the tool box over time.

I'm in the process of doing this, upgraded my recovery strap, I got a receiver shackle f/s if you're interested. It's BNIB I can return it to Amazon but it's just easier to sell it to someone.

    http://www.amazon.com/CSI-W580-Winc...1387295820&sr=8-1&keywords=csi+receiver+hitch

Here's a good deal on shackles too:

my experience with automatic tire deflators is that they suck ass. I had trail head tire deflators and for them to work the tire pressure has to be at least twice what you want the deflated pressure to be. and to adjust the pressure theres an allen screw in the deflator that you need to mess with then check tire pressure, then fill it all the way back up, try the deflator, adjust the screw, check the pressure, fill the tire all the way back up again, try it again…. complete pain in the ass.

get the ARB tire deflator. it works great and its fast.

as for other recovery gear, a few good shackles are always important. a good recovery strap or two. definitely not the shitty rope ones with hooks on them that they sell at pep boys. get a real strap like the ARB ones or the ones from wheelers off road or sierra expeditions. Don't need a tree saver if you don't have a winch. A shovel is definitely important.

my recovery gear that Ive used the most are my hi lift jack and a shovel. and then my snatch strap to yank stuck people out :D

If you have the room and the $ to spend, pick up a set of TREDs or maxtrax.

My gf got me a set of TREDs for christmas. http://www.tred4x4.com

I bought my ARB snatch strap used here in TW.... didn't save too much but it was in decent shape...
Used it last sat with no problems...
I also have the ARB snatch block that I got here in a group buy.... I can't use it by myself but if I get pulled with a winch I think it will double the pulling ratio and it works great in angles in combination with a tree saver... so it's still good to have even if i can't use it on my own...it was an impulse buy :anonymous:

I want to get the shackle hitch attachment, few d ring and shackles my self....

Edit...maybe ill get the HiLift or ARB recovery kit since I could use the chain with the hilift

I use these and they are more then good, plus they don't have that lame ass key to have to make adjustments to the pressure like the other brands.

The Staun 2 deflators are getting great reviews. No tools required, can be on while driving like the trail heads, and have a manual start option (no minimum pressure required). I am looking into them. Deflating isn't really a bad process but in the winter it fucking sucks.

IRC the snatch block is for situations like we were in saturday where the vehicle needing recovery cannot have another vehicle come directly in front of it. But it can double the pulling ratio if used for self recovery.
