First, I would never try a DIY dip, and never mentioned anything about being a "youtube expert." I was simply referring to a simple vinyl wrap piece for a 1/4 side-bed area and thought "Hey, instead of getting it on EBay, how about let a TW member get the money from me instead." But ok, if you don't carry stock or have an interest, I will go elsewhere. It's all good. As for the shipping, I think it would be a bit expensive to ship the bed of my truck to your location. Just sayin.

I wasn't trying to be an ass or insult you in any way. That is one bad thing about typing responses. I was trying to give you the most information as possible. I work with a company who does vinyl, so that is why I do not do anything with it.
I have seen many of your posts and know that you are an educated man. I appreciate the thought of giving the business to a TW member. I did not want to steer you in the wrong direction or give false information.

    Sorry for the misunderstanding.

:D All is good. I did actually do some general lookup of this system, and I have to say it is REALLY cool looking. I am sure it takes TONS of practice and trial-and-error until you get to be as good as your work shows. I'd love to get some stuff done on trim items, but it has to wait until later. Function over form right now for Lil Beast.

I am curious, if you don't mind answering: On the basics I watched, the tech applied a spray coating over the top of the film that was laid out in the dipping tank. This was done using an auto paint style gun. Was this a special chemical, or just water? I'm curious.

Some awesome work you have there. I'll be looking you up in the future.

I hear ya on getting the function of the rig going. To answer your question about the spray from the auto paint gun, it is a chemical that basically liquifies the top of the film to let the ink release and float on the water.

If you were to dip headlight lenses or tail lenses, how would the heat affect the coating? what is the UV rating of such a process. The reason I ask, is because I am looking to replace my headlight lenses. If I do, I would like to get something cool done to them. Not sure if any R&D has been done for this, but it would be cool if this would also retard the UV degredation of plastic.

Got ya, I was kinda curious if it was the water itself that did it, or a chemical.

The water is absorbed into the bottom side of the film. It basically hydrates it. The film is a water soluble plastic.

I think from what I have seen, is that the biggest part of doing that job is skill of how to properly insert and dip the parts to get a steady, uniform coverage. I bet you used up a lot of scrap material as you learned. Looks to be pretty challenging.

    Hey guys,
Flyzeye Designs sent us a set of cases to do a trial run with some pattern that you guys will hopefully like. We did some in carbon fiber, granite, grey burlwood, and splash. A couple pictures were snapped quick before they were all packaged for shipping.

    Enjoy!

The blue is the same as the water drop helmet. It is called Iridescent Bright Blue:

I have never heard of Cheroke coating. I am going to research to give you a better idea and myself as well.

Would this work for the bezel of a headlight? I kind of wanna get my retrofits dipped in carbon fiber.

It should be able to. There is usually a way for something to get it done. Send me a picture of the bezel if you can without it installed in the housing.
