Yep, getting parts is fun :)

FYI, Yard Machines is owned by MTD. Yard Machines, Troy-Bilt, Yard Man and Bolens are all owned by MTD.

Yeah, you're right. Mine actually just broke during this last storm and I was able to get parts through MTD directly. They weren't terribly marked up and I'll have the parts in a couple days. I can still limp the snow blower through this next storm if need be.

It happened about the same time Troy-Bilt's reputation went to shit :)

The older MTD stuff wasn't bad but I agree with you about the new stuff. If I had to buy a new one, I'm not sure which brand I'd get.

The good thing is the engine is a Briggs and Stratton 17hp, has been easy so far. Try finding a hydrostat transaxle new or reman, $700. No thanks, I bought a parts mower on CL for 200 that had a bum engine..turned out the spark plugs were loose :)

The Tundra will get the same MPGs towing the Jeep as the Jeep will get normally.

I think my MTD snowblower is a '98 and it's been great so far. This is the first break down I've had and it's not even anything serious. I got mine from my cousin who I don't think did anything in the way of maintenance. The engine oil was pitch black when i changed it but it's still running strong and starts on the first couple pulls.

Yeah, it's supposedly their 'premier brand'. I was on hold for quite a while and can practically recite their sales pitch with all their brands

A little late getting a morning weather chill report going now that I saw this thread.... Was -15 at the house when pulling out at 4:30am, up in the hills by Lake Carmi. Lots of packed snow on our hilly driveway and road - only 2K on the new Toyo OC's and didn't slip anywhere I didn't want to. Annnnnnd, it's snowing again right now as I look out the window.

Snowblower search input - because of our steep driveway we got one with the treads instead of just drive wheels. Seems to do very well with that. Something to consider if that's anybody's situation, although they get pricier.

    Hasta

Thanks ;) FF fan, I take it? Was a toss up between that and something from Giger. This seemed to fit me better.
