Ah, from a vet like you I knew more thought went into that choice. The background story to any art that I've found always makes it immensely more intimate and interesting IMO. I've only gotten out of auto mode this September when I started classes and decided to start taking this more seriously, so I'm a total newb at photography but I've been into art most of my life this far. I hope to be that old vet that's seen it all in about 30 years, like yourself haha. Who knows what we'll be shooting with then. I'll be able to say hey kids, do you remember DSLRs? I knows there's still some around haha

^^and this, ladies & gentlemen, is why i hope this thread continues to thrive and grow in the coming weeks/months/years!! I hope to be 1/3 as thoughtful as Chaz was in writing out these priceless critiques/feedback as our judge this past week.. was WAY MORE than I expected when this thread first started, so THANK YOU CHAZ for making this the highlight of my week (after my Daughters 3rd birthday, of course..;))

Thanks gentlemen! I always look forward to your submissions each week as well and I'm Very excited to see what everyone comes up with for the Self-Portrait Challenge..

Thank You! ..and Do It, you definitely won't regret it!!

I'm more in line with Chaz's write-up here about No Hard rules for this Self-Portrait entry, although as he has stated (much more eloquently than I could have), this is meant to be an exercise to help inspire growth as a photographer, and an honest look at how you want to portray yourself, not necessarily so much post-processing/alterations..
The last thing I think any of us as artists want to do is hinder that imagination/creative process..

I, for one, feel Much more confident just walking around in public with my camera in my hands thanks to Chaz's Candid Challenge last week...which I think ultimately is the whole point of this wonderful thread.
A friendly photography forum where you can submit your photos without fear of destructive criticism, learn something from your mature peers with similar interests, & all the while grow confident in your own unique photographic style..

x2. Thanks Pete! I'm looking forward to your entry..

    ^^:D^^
I'm hopeful y'all will make this EXTRA difficult for Me and post at least 20 submissions... No rush though.. The majority of time for this challenge may likely be spent figuring out exactly what/how you would like to portray yourselves.. so take your time and be creative.. that being said, Lets See Some Shots!! :)

And definitely the same choice as mine...amazing shot, TacoMas!
Interesting challenge, I've got an idea, but I'm not sure if it'll work out...we shall see!
