there was an article online at CNN. They basically said Sign your ticket and take a selfie with it then put it someplace safe. Lay low and hire a lawyer who is familiar with large sums of money. Work out the numbers and decide lump or annuity. Make a plan for dealing with your money whatever your choice.

They suggested hiring a PR firm to deal with interview requests. They also suggest making arrangements to be "gone" for a few weeks after the announcement.

All in all, it was an entertaining article but seemed to offer some decent advice.

I'll let you know how it works out for me. LOL.

I don't get the whole "take your money and hide" concept?

Plenty of people have millions of dollars and they don't hide from it. I'm not saying it would be wise or classy to drive around in a gold plated Ferrari...but why not enjoy the resources?

From what i've seen, people just come out of the woodwork after you. Loans, old friends, conmen, family members, strangers. People with "new" money are not too good at protecting it yet.

To avoid the leeches. The long lost cousin they often mention, your old 'friend' from middle school and whatnot. Guilt trip will be used and if they don't get some of that lovin, it turns to violence! People are crazy out there :D

There are a lot of people who are very wealthy around here. You'd never know it.

But, if you suddenly won one of the largest jackpots, everyone and his sister will know and at that point, you're kind of a marked person-the crack pots, your "family" and so on would all be looking for a handout.

Taking off for a while just makes some of that go away and lets you sort the rest of the details to get on with your life.

Wow. One winner. San Jose, CA 1:259M were the odds. Sold at Jenny's Gifts in SJ.

Scratch that. Could be a couple more.
