They are def made to go vertical. The low beam will I wanna say shoot up and hi will be pointing down. When I put mine it they had a tiny bit of play. I also had to loosen the washer tank to get the passenger light in. Other than that very pleased with them. The high beams are there but I notice them more on a really dark road. But at the same time I got these I also ordered the 6" Cree bars and put 2 in the lower valence. They work great and I drive with them all the time and not one person has flashed me in a week and a half

I was concerned that I was sent the wrong lights so I emailed Lifetime. I was excited to hear their response!

Did you have a true HID retrofit to compare to or are you comparing to a drop in HID setup not designed for the reflector housing?

No ballasts? The have a control box which is about the same size as the slim HID ballasts.

Really looking forward to getting a set of these. Like one TWer said, it'll suck in snow/ice conditions as the lame won't convect any heat. :/

True. But one thing I find interesting. LEDs dont heat up, so why would it need a cooling fan or heat sink?

Low power leds may not build up much heat but they do generate heat. These headlights are much higher powered than most LEDs. I have built LED based projects and i can assure you they generate heat. If you look at most of the LED pods, Rigid and others, they all have heatsinks.

Interesting. I would have never thought any type of led would generate a substantial amount of heat
