Well, I haven't actually tried to pull it yet, but I'm trying to cover all my bases for when I have the picker. I just figured that with the crossbar in front and the ARB bumper, it wouldn't clear. That would be gravy if it did without having to drop the front!

Say, THAT helps a whole lot!! I may replicate it.

I also found this with some searching:

Rather than *buying* temporary hooks from the stealership, I might just try directly bolting some 5/16" transportation chain to the lifting holes, or exhaust bolts, and bolt or hook that with the lift. Or I might just torch-cut some 3/16" plate into hooks.

Engine is out. Had to take off the wheels and 255 tires and set the truck on the brake rotors, but didn't have to compress the suspension. Cleared the radiator by about an inch.
The real bitch was getting the oil pan to clear the passenger side motor mount, and convincing the transmission it wasn't invited. Otherwise pretty smooth. Glad I took off the exhaust headers!

Out of curiosity, how much was the dealership engine hook? I spent about $7 in off-the-shelf parts from Homey Despot.

    Pics of the teardown!

Also, what is the plan from here? Assess damage, replace broken parts as needed or just full engine swap?

I'll try to snap some pics (haven't yet). You're always welcome to swing by if you like and check things out for yourself. Bring a pressure washer or steam cleaner with you :D

Looking to do a full swap. Word has it there's a motor in HB with my name on it. A factory-sealed motor is going to be superior to anything I put back together.

I bought those hooks last year. They were around $40-$50 each for two hooks from TRDshop.

Holy thread revival!! This has got to be some kind of record!

I had almost forgotten I swapped engines. I just got done doing my rack & pinion for the third time (fuck Napa parts. Three racks in three years ain't my idea of fun time)
