Dealer quoted me a lift installed at $450, is that good or bad?

    Im new to Tacomas so bear with me. I want to lift my 2013 DC sport to allow for larger 33inch tires. The Toyota dealership where I bought the truck installs a spacer lift kit. The parts rep said its a 3 inch spacer up front and a 1 inch spacer in the rear and it will allow me to run 33's. He quoted $450 installed including a realignment. He said it was a TRD lift. I didnt know Toyota had a lift. I usually do this kind of stuff myself but I went to the dealership so that it doesnt void my warranty. How does this sound? Will I fit 33's?

    Yea it will fit but you're still going to have to trim plastics and maybe cut the cab mount...

    Also remember spacer lifts = stiffer ride and if the lift is pushed hard can cause premature failure to the stock struts resulting in damages

    Why not get some Bilstein 5100s?

    Does the dealer warranty the work? If the shock fails because of the lift they installed, will they replace everything? If they do, I would say that's a pretty good bargain, the alignment alone will be close to 100 bucks.

    He told me that it would not void the warranty and I don't do any hard core wheeling. I mostly want a more aggressive look. I would prefer new springs and shocks but I have a lifetime powertrain warranty with this dealership so I don't want do any mods this will void it. I'm coming from a Jeep so if the ride is a little rougher it will still be better than my lifted Jeep was.

    I agree with Jerez. I suggest against spacer lifts as well. Never really a good idea. Too many people get them, then hate them later, or deal with damage to shocks. Now as for the cost, spacer lifts for the Tacoma can be bought all day long for about $150 depending on the brand (of course the dealer is not buying, or selling the lift itself at that price). Figure an alignment is what, $70? That is $220. Labor time would be in the neighborhood of 2 hours if you were meticulous.That is close to $200 at average dealership rates. So $450 installed is about a fair price if you DID decide to go that route.

    I had the front spacer lift installed from the dealership as well. When I put new tires on I decided to put some 5100's on like everyone on this site suggests, seeing as I would need an alignment anyhow. I put the 5100's on and the are a harsher ride than the spacers. Just my personal experience. If you don't do a bunch of off roading, the spacers are fine, with an AAL on the rear

    That is an excellent price, in fact that sounds too low if done right with including alignment. I have that lift on my truck done by the dealer. Most likely that is a Ready Lift http://www.readylift.com/products/to...t-69-5055.html . They priced the parts for that lift 299.00 for the parts plus labor. The TRD package also requires Sway Bar Relocation bracket.

    Also make sure they give you something in writing saying the lift will not void the warranty in any way. I had to press the dealer on that one. By the way I do not find that the spacer lift is a harsh ride. If this is mostly for looks, which is why I did mine as well as hoping it would be easier for this old man to get into the truck, and you are not going to be doing any hard wheeling, this lift will be fine and save you a lot of cash. I have been off road with mine on some very rocky trails and had no problems, but I did not rod the truck either. I took it to Colorado and did some trails. The one was over 7 miles long, rocks and boulders all the way and took me about 3 or 4 hours so complete.

    You asked about tire fit. This is what Ready Lift says about this lift;
    "Allows for up to a 33 x 11.5 tire on an 8" wide wheel with 5" backspacing with minor trimming of the inner fender liner. 32.5" tires on and OEM or 5" backspacing wheel should fit with no trimming required."
