supposedly the old HF winches were junk (chicago electric maybe?), but under the new badlands label, i've heard nothing but good things about them. i know they probably come out of the same chinese factory, but whatever redesigning they've done seems to have worked. all of the winch reviews/comparisons in the off road mags speak highly of them (though they seem surprised as well)

    engrish :goiongcrazy:

correct, badlands is a harbor freight product. for something like that, probably worth the $20 for a two year, no questions asked warranty.

there really aren't that many "bad" winches out there as long as you stick to the big names.

most common that i see (and would run on my own truck) are:
    -warn
    -superwinch
    -smittybuilt
    -engo

didn't put badlands on the list because i've only wheeled with one person to have one. so most of my personal opinions of them are based on reviews, rather than first hand experience.

they also don't have a synthetic line version, so you won't find any money saving by getting synthetic from the factory.

He didn't specify. I'm waiting on Lowes to deliver the new deep freeze so I can take it in.
