TSB - Rear leaf spring noise.

Anyone have a odd ticking sounds on the TSB leafs when going over bumps? Sounds like they need some lube or something, kinda like they are rubbing just a tad when they first start to compress and again once they are about to go back to their stationary location. I can't really describe the sound that well. Not sure what to do to get rid of that.

Edit: almost a creaking sound.

 

nope my axle just goes straight to the bump stop. BOOM, i bottom out with one person in the back seat.

 

hmmm mine does this but i dont have the tsb done. i do have a 1.5" block in the back though. let me no if u found a way to quiet or get rid of the noise.thanks

 

Mine was doing it after the TSB too. I just sprayed them down with some WD40 on afternoon and it went away. May not last long......so far so good.

 

Maybe I'll give that a try. Did you spray the whole leaf?

The leafs are making a weird creaking sounds when they flex. I was wondering if anyone had the same problem after getting the TSB done.

 

I dind't have the TSB done, but mine squeak. Before I got on this site and found out about the TSB, I went to the dealership and they looked at it and SAID they replaced somethin, but I think they just lubed the leafs up cuz it came back after a month. I spray mine with a pressure washer and it makes it stop for a month or so.

 

im not too sure what TSB stands for but i also have that nasty creeking noise in my tacoma's leaf springs. I have used white lithium grease to lube it up before and it seemed to help out a bit because i think that it is due to the metal on metal rubbing. but please inform me if there is a permanet solution. I cannot stand the sound and i pesonally think that it makes Toyota look bad even tho it does not mechanically effect the truck.

Look under there and make sure they didn't screw yours up like mine. They put the mounting bolt in backwards and it was rubbing the frame and squeeked on every bump. The had to take mine down and re-install the pack.

 

dang i will have to check that out. it should not be that way... at least i hope that it is not...is there anything else that it could possibly be?

no... im guessing that if u can see where the frame has been being scratched up then yeah its the wrong way so i am taking it

 

The head of the top mounting bolt should be near the frame not like mine in the picture. I sprayed WD-40 to stop the squeeling till it was fixed. The original springs were mounted right, this was screwed up when they first installed the new 4 leaf pack.

 

Yea that would make a lot of sense, ha ha. I'm just being lazy I don't want to go look right now. Good info though.

 

i wish i could look right now but i dont think my boss would lake it too much if i went outside and got my khakis and polo all dirty just because i wanted to look what what causing my truck to squeak. haha.
i have not had anything done to my taco's leaf springs so hopefully if did not come from the factory like that

 

I would guess your squeeking is from sand/mud between your leafs. Power washer should fix it.

 

Yeah mine started doing that about a year ago after i started off roading seriously. It creaks all the time now, when i come to a stop, when i leave a stop, kinda get used to it. I hasn't really bothered me enough to fix, i just figured the leaf springs needed to be greased up but haven't done it yet

 

yeah that is exactly what mine does. i hate it so i just turn the music up loud so i cant hear it

 

I have a reg cab, stock 3 spring, over speed bumps rated at 30 mph mine goes "clack clack" or so from 25 mph to 35, Havent gone faster on em yet. I'm gussing now..... it could be the pack retainer clip or whatever its called. the serve- less writer..... errr service writer says its normal. I wanna slap him for tacoma neglect and the crime of excessive public stupidity.
