The cuts are expected with the wars winding down. The same thing happened after Vietnam. Still doe not make it any easier to accept.

 

And the fact that Evergreen has gone under and their contracts are being flown by various different outfits from week to week shouldn't make it all that more difficult to get your compressor back.

 

I imagine they were. I'll have to call my Chief this weekend. He should have some choice words for them; he's still pissed that he has to pay for medical.

 

Briefings start in January for the active duty cuts. Looks like they're gonna fast track and railroad a lot of people with lightning speed. That's how I'm reading it between the lines.

Also, the latest I read is they are going to speed up up to 900 people for date of separation. If they were eligible to get out by May 2015, they now have to be out by May 2014...

He was told free coverage for life after retirement. He enlisted in 1969 or 1970. We don't pay a lot (currently about $50 a month) but it still bugs him. "Dammit Rob, they told me free, $50 IS NOT FREE." Mind you said with a great deal of emotion in the Chief's special way.

I'm not looking forward to paying the dental coverage when that time comes though.

Yes, we are both inside service areas and on TriCare Prime for the time being. Who knows what will happen as this thing shakes out. At a minimum I expect that $50 will double or triple. It's still not a bad deal, but frustrating when they keep going back on "contracted promises." Gonna need to get off this subject soon; I feel my blood pressure going up.

Did you change your flight to tomorrow?

EDIT: Best deal on Dental for us was through Kristi's job at WalMart. That's the only coverage we have through them; oh I think Kristi gets vision thru them. I get my glasses thru the VA.

 

The people who deal with all of that said I was too late changing. Either they didn't want to do anything, or it's the holiday season so everything is booked.

Oh well, I am alright with it. Going to finally meet up with a friend who lives in town tomorrow night.

Brady, If you're ever at the AMWC on Ft Dix (Joint Base McGuire-Dix- whatever that Navy thing is) look through the Vietnam displays for a rip stop green jungle fatigues with name tag "HETTEROTH."
