Have you looked at the Duratracs? I think that's what I'm getting soon.

Had them for a short time, but I love them! I was down to the same 3 tires and the price at Costco on BFGs made me decide on the T/A KOs as the Rugged Terrains are damn ugly in person, IMO.

    RH01

EDIT: I'm an idiot. I looked at the Silent Armors too, but they were priced out by the competitors. Rugged Terrains are still ugly.

Got Hankooks. They have already seen a blizzard and were great. 1/3 of the price of the BFGoodrich or Duratrac's.

I like the looks of the Rugged Terrains....i'm about to move where there'll be lots of snow though and I don't think they'll be very good in it.

I'm planning on the Goodyear Silent Armor's. Below is an excerpt of the company's specifications on 6 part numbers. It's on their website. I just grabbed it this morning and pivoted it in excel to make it easier to read.

Load range Tire size Product code Max load (lbs) Max inflation pressure (psi) MSRP
    E LT245/75R16 748747188 3,042 80 $242
    LT265/70R16 748016189 3,195 80 $259
    LT265/75R16 748746189 3,415 80 $260
    SL P245/75R16 758496189 2,271 44 $213
    P265/70R16 758500189 2,403 44 $228
    P265/75R16 758503189 2,601 44 $227

(Although it sure as shit ain't easy to read in this table).

Funny seeing the E rated tires showing up.....
I have always run E on my older trucks and at one point on a Dodge Dakota I ran a 55 psi D if I remember.

The factory tires suck in several ways.
Even with a lot of air they have a bunch of side to side movement.
The have a good bit of bulge and that leads to tracking and lower MPG.
Using a heat gun, there is so much flex that they even heat up a lot towing and highway speeds.

So my thought a several others.
They are stiffer and ride / control is better.
    Better fuel MPG
    last longer
    more and better tread

down side is weight, but not a lot for what you get.

I have started seeing many of the newer trucks come with the E Rated and packages.
There are three newer Fords and several newer dodge and others that have E on a 1/2 ton truck.

I'm thinking I will make the move to them soon, the stock ones are a PITA towing and at speed on back roads.

BFG AT. They have never let me down.
I run them at 10 psi on the trail (mud and snow).

I'm a huge fan of the BFG AT's. But the Hankooks do run a very close 2nd.

Old thread I know. Here is a pix of the Hankook AT tire after 72K miles. Even wear due to determining the PSI needed to make them wear evenly using the chalk method, 32 front, 28 rear. Rotated every 5K miles, religiously.

I personally don't like any of those tires, BUT if your stuck on getting 1 of those, i would go with BFGs. I know everyone is pinching pennies these days, but there are some other good options aswell (duractracs, cooper, dick cepek, etc)
