Trying to figure out what this is... I'm about 1800 pages deep in the 2005+ service manual. Looks like something new to 2012+ and I haven't found a manual for the newer years yet.

I'm checking into putting a second battery in this location...so I'm trying to figure out if this is something I can relocate... first step is figuring out what it is lol.

Where does that hose go? I'm pretty sure its something to do with emissions.... One of the aftermarket shops makes a dual battery mount for the stock location.

Yeah I found that on the dual battery thread.

I was thinking something smog related. Which means extra parts in my book... but also may cause an engine light... which maybe can be disabled with techstream lol.

More photos.... Looks emissions related to me... I also found a spot to the passenger side of the radiator that I could probably move it to.

I'm sure dual 34 yellow tops would out-perform the single factory 27F... just need to see if it's enough to justify the cost vs using the location I'm describing with another large battery. Wiring would be a lot easier as well.

There are two of these sensors/plates

    Possible relocate location...

Looks like 'extra parts' to me... but if I can learn what it's called and search around maybe someone has disabled/removed it... if nothing else I'll learn something lol

andy, its the smog pump. it injects clean air into the exhaust system to help burn whatever leftover fuel the motor didnt ignite yet

If it was me, I would remove it and cap the hose, and see what happens.

I've been wondering what that noise is! Shesh i remember back in the 90's... removing the smog pump off my mustang 5.0 lol. It didn't have all the electronics/sensors back then though. If I discover anything I'll post it up... I might play around with techstream and unplugging sensors/capping off things and seeing what happens.

Hmmm well it's something to play with. I think it will be way easier to do dual batteries in the stock location... and there are a few options out there already to make it an easy but expensive mod.
