Hey all I am curious to see if there are any supercharger platforms for the 2.7 1st gens and just wanted to know if there are any details or write ups about it. I'm just tryna figure out a few things before I just decide to dump a bunch of money on a engine swap to be able to supercharge my yota. Please let me know any info is help to me.

what engine were you planning on swapping? the supercharger will definitely give you some good get-up, but if you were planning on dropping something big in there is it's just not going to compare.

I don't know what what kind I swap I would do but I'm just trying to figure out if there is a supercharger for the 1st gen 2.7? If there is I'd end up going with thy just kinda depends on prices and details. Any info would be appreciated.

There was a supercharger marketed by a company called Alpine that made a supercharger for your engine. Later TRD made a deal with them and they were marketed under the TRD brand name with a smaller supercharger.

Then TRD dropped it and Alpine continued to market them still with the TRD logo on them. URD purchased a large number of these systems, but it did take a very long time to sell them and did not repurchase a second batch. Alpine went further down the tubes and worked a deal with LC Engineering to take over the marketing.

So, yes, you can get a supercharger kit for your engine from LC Engineering.

Ok thanks and I've been looking at the different options and sizes of pulleys. I'm just curious but how hard would it be to do myself and I am very mechanically inclined and have been working on engines most of my life. I'm still trying to figure out if it's be cheaper to do a v8 swap or just go with the supercharger.

it'll be cheaper to buy the charger. you might find an engine of comparable price but its the install that will kill you in time, money, and patience.

throw some headers and have Gadget fiddle with it and you'll have yourself a nice DD.

Yea that's exactly what I was thinking and yea I really want to supercharger and I will most definitely throw a set of headers on there and what can gadjet do me? Tune?

Why not just go with the 3.4?

yeah Gadget is sort of our personal rep from URD. he and they do all things performance. you'll need a MAF calibrator from them as well as a nice tune so you reap the full benefits of the charger and header combo. PM him I'm sure I'm leaving some stuff out but basically he'll make sure you get the most out of it.

i think its a lot of work to basically get to a stock truck. if I was going to to thru the trouble of pulling an engine and dropping another in there, I'd want it to have some more oomph than the 3.4

    although there's a few upsides:
    abundance of parts
    ease of install
    and you know it fits!

Yea I was looking at the 3.4 but as Mr. Biscuits said its a lot more work and a lot more parts and probably even more expensive than getting the Supercharger. I'm leaning more toward the supercharger anyway and liking the way it will do performance wise.

I've been researching this same thing, hopefully will have some good info this weekend. The charger Alpine/LCE used is an Eaton M62. This is the OEM blower on some old GM 3800 series V6s that came on 94-95 Buick, Pontiac, and Olds vehicles with a 3.8 v6. It also comes with the supercharged Nissan Frontiers and Xterras, the Chevy Cobalt SS, and some Mercedes vehicles. I'm basically trying to cheap out on the "kit" from LCE and avoid spending 3 grand on supercharging. I found a blower on craigslist locally for a hundred bucks, hopefully if the guy will get back to me I can go check it out on Sunday to try out the fitment of it. Although it's the same blower, Magnuson built them (I think. still confused on Eaton and Magnuson's role in this) to each OEM's specs. So although the screws on the inside are the same, nose cones and the mounting patterns could vary. So I'm gonna check the fitment of an M62 off the Cobalt SS Sunday (hopefully) and can keep you posted. If anyone has photos of the 2/3rz supercharger mounted it would be helpful, but it would me more helpful if anyone has pics or drawings of the manifold or the bottom of the blower where it mounts so i can compare.

Well let me know what you find out about the different options and I think I may just end up going through with dropping the 3GS on it but if you find anything else let me know.

The guy never got back to me. I believe, however, that the Nissans and Cobalt/Pontiac whatever SS use the MP-62, which is newer and a different platform all together. So I think that leaves you with the old GM vehicles

Ok thanks and yes I've seen the LCE supercharger and I think I will end up going with that. I'm just not exactly looking forward to dropping 3 grand on it but what do you expect with a supercharger. Any tips or advie from anyone?

That is what you get when you go to LCE performance site and look at the supercharger. I believe it's the exact one as in the picture.
