The ceramic coated ones are supposed to reduce under hood heat. The Stainless ones are more than the crome, and the crome look purty.

Cats are your choice, the differnce is where the power band would be. I think Long is more top end, and Short is More Low End power.

Uhh...no, short tube Headers are called so because they extend shorter from the engine for you to keep your two cats, long tube headers extend all the way to your y-pipe, thus deleting your two cats. Plus short tube headers require cutting n welding

LCEngineering only makes Long tube, I think most people use the long tube. and Not all of the 1st Gens have 2 cats. But I think any choice would be a good one. Just check reviews, some have been known to crack.;)

    I personally prefer a Try-Y header.

long tubes generally create more power throughout the whole rpm band. They may feel a little more sluggish off the line, but once the scavaging effect starts to take place, that exhaust just flys out. Of course, it also depends on your cam specs as well. you dont want to get a large header if the exhaust durration on your cam is small. I wouldn't worry too much about that unless you are going for all out racing ;)

I would stick with long tubes in probably 99% of all applications though. Coated headers are nice because they usually dont rust and keep the heat down, stainless shouldnt rust, look awesome,, but keep the temps high under the hood which you want to reduce, and chrome will rust over time because they are just coated steel.

The shorty headers on our trucks have a power curve that mimicks the DTLT's. Regardless of header, your only looking at a few hp gain. The DTLT's have a weird power spike at 3500 to 4200 rpm, I belive this is when the VVT begins, which leads me to belive they are not tuned for the 4.0 engine to maximise scavenging thruout the rev range.

that very well could be. i havent looked into headers for trucks...just when i used to race my transam. for giggles, heres a comparison of long tube headers vs 2001 stock manifolds and 1999 stock manifolds for said transam. the stockers were practically shorties already.

Yeah, I have messed around with exauhsts and headers on those engines, as well as many others.
