Someone actually busted out my window and stole my drivers airbag! They didn't take anything else. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement that isn't $800? or better yet who stole it!

Thats weird..... my taco has an interior parts theft insurance, you just have to pay a deductible, don't know if that applies for you.

The insurance company has to cover that. Don't they?
It's not like it's a incidental item (CD case, cell phone, etc.)
And I'd fight to make sure it's covered under comprehensive, so you don't have to pay a deductible.

I wonder if the Airbag is VIN etched?

That seems like a lot of work to steal an airbag. Much easier to just steal the deck. Either sucks to hear of shit like this.

Dude, that ebay seller is right here in my city.
Let me know if you're thinking of buying it off him.
I might email him to see what other parts he has - if any!

That blows. Several years back, airbag theft was rather prevelant but I have not heard about it in a while. Hopefully your insurance should cover most of it depending on your deductable. Dont it make you wish you had caught that bitch in your truck?.......:fenforcer:

Make sure what you buy on ebay is a Toyota OEM air bag. If you buy some cheap crap someone made in their garden shed, you could be denied an insurance claim if you were seriously injured in an accident. Your insurance premium is calculated based on the "factory" air bag functioning as designed. Insurance companies will find every excuse to deny a legit claim. Dont give them an opportunity to do so by installing sub standard life safety equipment.

Remember, air bags save lives. Its worth more than $800. ;)

I know it's been said before but, your insurance should cover it. If for nothing other than that is was a piece of the original equipment, unlike a stereo headunit or aftermarket wheels.

what the hell?!?! why would someone steal an airbag, is there actually a decent enough airbag market out there to warrant stealing them? and how do youdo that? do you take the whole wheel?

I would either spend the money for a real toyota installed bag or get the insurance to spend the money. dont cheap out on an airbag dude
