When I made mine . I cut out the center section and used the scrap plastic . Cut to fit . I used epoxy on the back side and bondo putty to fill in the gaps but I didn't use a lot because I didn't want it to crack after painting it.
Just make sure you sand everything real good . I epoxied some screws to the back side for attaching the mesh grill .
Mine came out ok but the more time you spend on prep the better it will look .
    It's a fun little project .

^this. It is alot easier than some people think. I am not sure how the 4 runner grills are setup so he might not be able to use that method.

The issue with the 4runner grille for me is I am making the 06-09 grille (taller and wider) fit on an 03-05 truck (different bumper height and headlight style.

I have to cut out the lower section, trim it evenly, move it up, trim the lower corners to clear the 03-05 headlights, patch all the shit together, and then I'm done.

Got up early to get me some lathe....

Using the shop's lathe to cut out my bodylift pucks.

Then I have work at 7/11 at 2. I'd MUCH rather be passed out in bed right now, but I have to build the kits for people I owe kits to.

Hopefully I finish early so I can take a nap before work

Oh I didn't relieze you were making a different grill fit your truck . Why not just use the grill that fits ? Is there a big difference in the 2 ?

Yeah the 03-05 grille isn't nearly as tall as the 06-09. It looks ugly when you have an off road bumper. It was made to fit on top of a filler piece

Accident photo... Only one with the stock grille and bumper I have before I got my brush guard.

I was talking about my PIAAs. Might be some stuff coming up for sale soon. There have been some serious talks about trading her in but it won't be at least until I have my tax return back.

A slew of pricey stuff my wife hates me for.
Well guys, I was hoping the rain last night would wash the layer of filth off my truck, no luck. Had to run it through the touchless this morning.

Johnny- I was thinking the same for epoxy and studs to hold the mesh.

Alex- I'm looking forward to seeing pics. I'm picking up the space heater for the garage soon and will be ready to do my satoshi by New Years.

My satoshi's are MUCH more time intensive lol. Yours should be 10 times easier than mine.

And my garage has baseboard heat. Ha ha ha nah nah!

The 2011 grilles can be a PITA because of the plastic mesh but otherwise, yeah, ours are easier. Why work in the garage? I'd just pull the grille and work on it in the basement :notsure:

It looks like a 2" hole saw but it wont lay flat there unless i mount it sideways. That is where I have seen them but that is right at the bend. Maybe I will pull the plate and have one bolt behind the plate

I've seen someone remove the plate light on the left, open up the hole and put it there. It looked clean.
