    That's a really good price.

If he had it done at the dealer, the belt cover will have a sticker that shows the mileage and date that the service was done.

If not, I'd ask where he had it done and see if they have a record of it under the VIN number. If they're using computerized customer records, they should have a record of it being done.

Well, I bought it from Hoover Toyota and they told me the belt looked good. Gonna get it changed anyways. Actually Hoover Toyota quoted me at $850 for timing belt and water pump on it

Not a bad price. I'm just a little cheaper, but not by a whole lot.

are you significantly cheaper? if not, I am gonna keep it local. I don't think I can justify spending the gas money to save $50

Get a quote from Limbaugh or someone else. Hoover Toyota SUCKS.

That's a good bit less than it is on the LC with the same engine. Kinda crazy.

Just curious, Bill, can you pull up what an 04 or 05 Toyota Land Cruiser runs for the same thing? I know typically it requires a VIN.

I will check tomorrow to get specifics. At home I can only quote labor. I don't have access to my parts catalog here.

I haven't dealt with their service dept personally but their used car sales person, name is Lionel, is awesome we have bought 4 cars from Hoover Toyota, 3 from Lionel, and we have walked out of there with exceptional service.

I had a bad experience with a salesperson (it was a woman, so likely not Lionel, unless that's a woman's name now, lol) there personally when I was shopping for my Tacoma, and haven't ever been back. Multiple guys I'm friends with have had bad experiences with the service dept, but I'm not sure specifics of all of them. As with anything, it's rarely every employee that gives a place a bad name, just a couple of bad apples. Cool that you guys have had good luck with them.

I had to do rear brakes on my LC in a hurry (got to metal on metal and didn't realize it...), and didn't have time to DIY it or get it down to Bill b/c I was traveling for work a bunch that week, so I took it to Franklin Automotive. I was super pleased with their service. The guy took me back in the shop and showed me everything on the truck, and gave me a tour of the shop. I'd go back there before I went to any dealership, and I'm even friends with the Limbaughs of Limbaugh Toyota. Good people, but I'm a bigger fan of a good independent garage, personally. Primarily because my uncle owned one.

The guys at Franklin do a lot of 'yota work too, so they're familiar with the vehicles, always a plus.

OK, here are the exact quotes for the jobs requested:

    Timing belt/water pump 2001 Tacoma DBL cab 3.4 - $420.25

    Timing belt water pump kit 2005 4Runner, 4.7 V8 - $530.73 ( I was way off on my guess)

Timing belt water pump kit 2005 Land Cruiser - $580.73

Just a side note here, I get all of my Toyota factory parts from Limbaugh. Brad knows his stuff in the parts department, and takes care of whatever I need. I have spent about $4000 there this month.

Is the book labor way different between the 05 4R and the 05 LC? You don't have to quote it dollar for dollar, just curious if there's a big difference.

Yeah, the folks there are good. Brian Limbaugh grew up friends with my wife and her family. He's good people.

If they weren't out in BFE relative to where I life, I'd be more likely to go there. I had some trouble trying to get a lifted Tacoma with LR UCA's aligned there, but in fairness, their guys know stock stuff. They have the book, stock parts, and that's what they do 99% of the time.

However, yeah, for parts, I usu give them a call, or Lowe Toyota over in GA. Sam and Onur at Lowe are great to work with as well. They USED to do free shipping for ih8mud members, but the bean counters have stopped that. :(

I have no idea. A lot depends on the parts. What you need is a break down between parts and labor if you want to try and compare two quotes that are so far apart.

Yea, I will be coming to you Bill! Every body that is local is around the $850 mark. I'll have to save it up and let you know. I will also be getting some wheel bearings from you soon also, just for spares right now.
