Yeah, but when mom and dad have been there whenever he needed ANYTHING, and now he is going to be dealing with being actually ALONE for the first time in his life. It can be a bit disconcerting. I'm glad to see that his parents won't be able to talk to him and try to make him feel better. He needs a swift kick, ya know?

You can find the same information. Just do a search before posting a comment about doubting someone. It's easy to Google.

Shesh, am I the only one here that loves his parents? If you took me away from my parents when I was 16 I would beat you with a stick until you let me go. I had a terrific relationship with mine.

    From their site:
    5. Consistent family involvement that is mandatory in all aspects of treatment and recovery.

Not sure if you're familiar with any type of rehab, but it always includes family involvement. It's part of the process.

I did read a quick docket brief and not 100% but, believe it was a court order barring parental contact. Unrelated to the rehab institutions policy. I'll see if I can find it...

You may be right. But its not going to help him if the family is not involved. If this was legit to help him that is. As soon as he gets out it will just be back to same shit. Less a lot of money mommy and daddy will have to pay for his mistake. In that case it might be worse. They may not want anything to do with him.

Seems the justice system is continuing to work it's magic, showing a bias toward a part of the population that has a bit more resources, if this had been a minority figure and they had money this thread wouldnt not even come to fruition, the boy is rich and the "majority".

The powers at be are still at work in this day and age, it's a shame really.

Okay what I read was actually testimony where the psychologist hired by the defense requested that Ethan Couch have no parental contact during rehab. Believing that the boy would have better results.

I think it's a fruitless effort. He'll be back in court before its over if he doesn't kill himself first (we can only hope).

Yes, I do understand what the REHAB centers recommend, however this was mandated by the JUDGE, and the rehab center will have to follow those rules.

It is possible. Hopefully he can get SOME kind of good intervention and not be such a dumb ass when he gets out. I'll be honest here, I know it is cruel of me, but I hope he screws up the conditions of his probation and actually goes to jail. Rehab is only going to do so much. He needs the sh!t scared out of him.

I hope they stick to those rules and don't give in to the wealth of this kids family. I feel that if they could buy their way out of a 4 person vehicular manslaughter then I'm sure they will buy their way into the rehab. Hopefully not

I know he's only 16 & he doesn't know right from wrong but, rehab isn't nearly enough punishment IMO. It's almost as if the judge is as guilty as the parents in not teaching him a lesson.

    YIKES...

For those whom I misscummunicted with, I'll add a little clarification. The part of my comment noted above was intended to be sarcastic. :D

The crux of what I'm saying in that post is that the judge's punishment is ironic considering, IMO, she bought off on the boy not knowing right from wrong because of how he was raised and then failed to administer appropriate punishment herself. Essentially treating him as his parents had treated him all along and therefore not providing incentive for change.

If he was never taught right from wrong and then mommy and daddy fixed all the wrong. Then I'm sure he really didn't. Doesn't change anything. The judge had the opportunity to show him if you do something wrong, then you pay the penalty of that action. He's going to go through life thinking, if I do this again, I'll just do some more rehab. No big deal. Judge fucked up. No question.

There's no one in American that doesn't know drunk driving is wrong. Or stealing alcohol. They were stealing it because they weren't allowed to have it. And they knew it. I'll never buy that excuse.. Long before I could drive, I was aware that drinking and driving was wrong. That's why I've never done it. If I have 1 drink at 8, and I have to drive somewhere at 11, I feel like an asshole. It takes roughly one hour for one oz of alcohol to be digested. So after an hour, your blood alcohol should be back to zero. I won't ever drink and drive, even if it's just because if I get into an accident, I'll always question whether it was the alcohol...

No jail for rich ‘affluenza’ teen, Ethan Couch, after deadly wreck: judge

For a second time, a Texas judge sentenced Ethan Couch to 10 years' probation for a wreck that killed four people. The ruling in Fort Worth on Wednesday was the same previously made by the judge. Prosecutors had asked the judge to sentence the 16-year-old to 20 years in state custody.

    UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!

Was he tried again? I heard about this is the news again this morning and wondered why is this news? We already heard this OUTRAGEOUS verdict back in December.

I don't understand it and can only think that the judge was paid a large lump sum by the parents of the killer.
