I've been looking at full size trucks and I keep thinking of some of the crap model cars the Big 3 have built within the past 40 years. Seeing how Toyota started selling cars in the late 60s, I honestly couldn't recall there being a garbage model Toyota. Sure they may have developed a few models that never took off sales wise, but there isn't a model that screams Gremlin, Pacer, Pinto, Monza, Reliant K-car, diesel Cimarron....etc. thoughts???

designed for 5 foot drivers and the 6 speed transmissions would just explode when used as intended.

The late 70s and most of the 80s were a really bad period for American cars. There's a long list of shitastic models. Check out the GM crossfire injection they had on their V-8s 180hp from a 350. Because of this period I think Toyota, Nissan and Honda earned their reputations.

I see a couple here and there still putting around. That car was imported straight from Japan but didn't really work out on our bigger open roads. I don't remember that car being considered garbage....maybe really basic, but not garbage...similar to a Geo Metro

Definitely the echo, followed by the current Camry.

It's a camry, we all know it's the epitome of boring appliance so don't try and spice it up with a ricer factory body kit:rolleyes:

Echo's were what they were nothing special basic transportation still see them on the st. and the Scion platform is an Echo. Early 8R engines had cam shaft issues. Nothing really stick out as being junk like most of the US stuff on the street in the late 60's and 70's

This. Here's a picture of a base-model Tercel from 1995. Note the plastic blanking plate for the optional clock.

You think a blank plate for an optional clock is bad-my '74 Beetle had one for the radio! Not even an AM tuner in that cheap disposable lawnmower with a car body. I have to admit, the Tercel EZ was pretty crappy, although reliable.

Don't know if it was crappy, but the Corona was always a homely lookin' ride.
