Hey all, new here and didnt find what i was looking for while searching the site. Ive been going through cv axles and boots and seals for awhile because of my toytec 3" lift. I ended up lowering the front shocks as a temp. fix until I could figure something out . I was looking at the lotus cv axles. Do these slide right in or is there modification involved . Also, anyone running these? I only offroad every so often in the mountains. Just the high angle of the lift is killing the cv axles.

There suppose to be stronger even unbreakable but something else might get broken/give out because of the angle. Maybe keep the lift under 3 permanently. And there suppose to be replacements so they'll fit right in, do you happen to have a diff drop?

A diff drop and boot slide mod might help. The lotus axles are allot stronger. They will be what I go to next.. I just replaced mine with another Napa pair and did the boot slide mod. Will see how it holds up.

Well I have a differential drop but honestly it doesnt help much . My right boots are torn apart and I have the cash for the lotus axles . The way i see it is since Im going in there I might as well just upgrade . Im running 265/17 toyos so the lift being lower isnt doing that any good. Im thinking if I get these axles I shouldnt have to worry about them anymore. Thats just a thought though .

Yea you won't be breaking cvs, but will there be bigger issues? Do you have aftermarket uca's? I got 285/75 on 16s with about 2.5 lift and don't rub almost at all on the street (haven't wheeled w/ them yet). If you got 265s how is lowering it not any good? 265 are stock size

No aftermarket uca. The 265 70 17 toyo mts rub probably because of my wheel spacers . Bought larger fenders and pulled the wheels out some Because I like the look of it . Eventually Im going to buy bigger tires so I have some problems to work out with that. Just need to get this cv issue worked out . If I get these cv axles , Im hoping I shouldnt have to deal with it . Id imagine you would have to be wheeling pretty hard to blow the differential even with the lotus Cv axles right? Btw what 285 tires are you running billy ?

These are $500 a piece right? For $1000, you can buy almost 15 pairs of cheap napa C/V's, or almost three pairs of rebuilt OEM axels from CVJ.

Thats true but I would rather have a cv axle that I dont have to mess with then to have to change out one every month. Just seems to me that in the long run this would be a reliable product . Its the high cv angle that Im fighting right now. My other option is investing in a SAS. BuT put it this way , Im a big motorcycle guy , and rarely work on my truck unless its an upgrade or repair . Id like to not have to repair the cv axle . ( not that Im lazy or anything lol )

If your going through cv axles every month then theres something else wrong. Which toytec lift do you have?

Just the 3 inch suspension . I (was) going through them once a month mainly because of the boots . My friend just sent me some links to high angle boots so I might give these a shot . Offroad solutions has them . Any thoughts on these?

Maybe I am missing something...but how is going to a stronger CV going to solve your boot destruction problem? You'll just destroy boots on $500 axles instead of on $50 axles.

Do you have the (Red) Toytec adjustable coil kit? Or the Eibach coils with Bilstein 5100s?

930 Boots are a good way to go too

I got Duratracs, you should try the boot slide mod, and really consider keeping the lift under 3 inches. Jlee is right if the problem is going through boots you'll just destroy expensive Cv's .

Somehow I figured Getting stronger cv axles made for the high angle would solve it. At 500$ per axle though I would probably be better off with the high angle boots . Sorry for the confusion. Moose I have the red adjustable shocks and Ill give those 930 boots a look thanks

Not going to do anything for your boot issue. These are designed to no snap with front lockers. Just get the 930 high angle boots and rebuild your OEM's.

With that said, be careful with these CV's. Read somewhere that in high stress situations with front lockers, these don't snap, your 7.5in front diff does .

Billy whats the T diameter on your duratracs . My toyos are supposedly 32". If I go bigger I will probably take the fenders off and spacers off to fix the rubbing .

Yep I'm sure, those are capable of been cranked up for 3+in lift but it doesn't mean it's safe to do so(with 4wd). I'll be cranking mine up soon but I'll be adding weight.
