I'm looking for a Tacoma (short bed, double cab, 4x4, auto).

Do you guys think there will be crazy deals on 2009's once the 2010's hit dealers lots?

Would we see the deals right away or do you think we're have to wait until closer to December/Jan?

Are there any big changes to the 2010's?

If anyone has a dealer to recommend (or on this board) for Massachusetts, let me know.

    Thanks
    Dave

Deals? Depends on what you consider a good deal. Last year I couldn't get the dealers around here to budge on sticker price therefore opted for a screaming deal on a Honda Ridgeline which I since traded-in on a new Tacoma Sport Prerunner Doublecab. I got the Tacoma for $2500 under invoice before my trade-in came into play and luckily I was given $2000 less than what I paid for my Ridgeline last year. I had to get the dealer to locate my Tacoma. My dealer can't keep the Tacomas on the lot so I consider myself lucky with the deal I got. I doubt we'll see deals getting any better than what they are offering now. I remember the days when Toyota never had to give factory incentives to sell a car/truck.

Rebates won't change from what is currently available. You might have more leverage when buying a base/SR5 model but if you're after a TRD package you're not gonna get much better than what you could get now. They aren't the kinda vehicle the dealers have to try to get rid of even now.

I was told by a dealer with '10s ordered that the changes were 'verrrryyyy small'. This would support everything else I've read, they made ALOT of 'hidden' changes/overhauls for '09 so I wouldn't expect too much more until the truck is redesigned.

Thanks guys. I'll probably go with a base 4x4 DC anyway. Back in April I was quoted 22,791 for a DC base 4x4, only options were auto trans and floor mats, but then when the truck came in it had a "couple more options" so I passed.

When I went and talked to our sales manager about getting one with my employee discount I asked about this. From what he said its like what the other 2 guys said, rebates are gonna be VERY VERY small if theres even any at all. We can't keep TRD's on the lot long at all. Luckly the one I want, sticker $28,942 is only gonna be $24,500 cause the discount. Its still not as big a difference as I was expecting after seeing Brand new GMC's that where $32k sticker going for like $24k from their employee pricing event. But That price I pay is only $100 over what it costs toyota so they're not marked up extremely high.

I know my dealer didn't want to budge a whole lot on mine. Dealer is locating mine too which probably doesn't help since it's not like it's one sitting on their lot they're trying to move. I can definitely vouch for them not being able to keep TRD models both OR and Sports on the lot. They've been going quickly. Still ended up under sticker price after was all said and done OTD with taxes and everything on the Sport I'm getting so I'm content.

I just bought my 09 DC TRDOR. It was stickered at 28,480. Dealer knocked 2,000 off the price plus it had a $1500 rebate. About 2 hours of going back and forth I got them down another $1136. Walked out for $23,450 TTTOTD. They had 5 tacomas on the lot and this was the last 09. Bought it the last weekend in June. I think I just caught them at the right time. There was only 1 other person there looking on the lot and they were car shopping. Heck I looked at several 07's with less than 15K miles for more than what I paid for this new one. Pretty ridiculous.

I called one of my buddies and told him what I did and he pretty much summed it up... he said "You know the economy is bad when Toyota is cutting you a deal".

I agree that the rebates for the 09's will hover around that $1500 mark and dealer cash will be in $2000 range. I've still been looking and there still quite a few 09's sitting around...at least around here in the FL panhandle and lower Alabama. Can't say they are TRD or not but if the price is right TRD might not matter as much.

Around here (Houston) the Toyota inventories are way lower than last year. They are not over-producing like GM and Chrysler.

NO CHANGE FOR 2010. SPOKE TO A TOYOTA FLEET MANAGER. 2010's will be out in October-November. There are never deals in Canada on Tacoma's. In fact, the MSRP just went up about a month ago on all models.

They told me the same thing in N.C., about a month ago too, all of a sudden the prices went up at all the 1 price no haggle dealers and the first dealer I spoke to about it said "toyota raised their prices for us". Then later I was told about toyota cutting back their supply on the TRD models. It hasn't been reflected on the MSRP stickers but apparently the invoice for the dealer went up.

Thankfully I had a deal locked in at another dealer for a truck that hadn't arrived. The dealer above got the same truck in because someone backed out of presale but they just couldn't give me the price they were offering only a week or so before.

My truck on order should be in tomorrow or saturday though.

But yea, in one week the price on the truck I wanted at that dealership went up 1 thousand dollars and even me saying I'll buy it right now for the price you had last week wouldn't make them budge.

This may be a dumb question, but do they change the msrp of the stock already on their lots? My dealer has at least two base DC in Pryite - I filled out the request on toyota.com for the dealer to contact me. We'll see what happens.

I've got a broken foot - on crutches - how does that effect negotiations?

IDK, it might not even be in every region, maybe not even a real msrp increase...idk. But yea even the prices of the stuff on the lot went up here. Hard to say whats going on. I couldn't believe it when he said that though, then another dealer told me the same, seemed like prices should go down before the '10s come out not up. I would already have my truck if not for it.

I came here for my first post to ask a similar question that the OP had. The dealers I've been talking with seem to be willing to deal. According to Edmunds, the TMV is under invoice before the 1500 rebate (which is good because I prefer the 0% for 36 months).

I was wondering what deals existed last year at model year end. I want a TRD Sport Prerunner, AC or DC long bed, leaning toward DCLB but might miss shifting gears. From what I see here, maybe I should deal now.

BTW, has any gotten the $1500 incentive and the 0% for 36 months from Toyota?

When/if the deals come, theyre easy to find. Go to the dealer , then suddenly 2 other people are interested. I waited till there was plenty to choose from, then played evasive by pricing tundras, mumbled prices of nissans etc. Didn't buy the firs day, they called me the next , I payed $19k for a reg 4x4 instead of their $21K, and i still don't know who got the better deal!
