I have a 2007 Tacoma with the 4.0 V6 and was wondering what would be the best exhaust set up that makes it sound like a V8?

There's Nothing out there really that will make it sound like a v8...

Have any other sounds you may want?

    Hi Michael,

A 6 cylinder engine is not capable of generating the same sound as a V8, just as my 4 cylinder engine can never sound like your 6.

The best thing to do is to listen to YouTube videos of the various exhaust systems on Tacoma 4.0's and pick the one you like the best. There's quite a wide variety to choose from.

I wanted more than just sound, so the first thing I did when I got my 2012 2.7 was to install a long tube header and it's been the best mod so far. :)

    go to a shop.........

ask them to select 5 or so mufflers that will make ur truck have a deeper tone with NO REGARDS TO BRAND NAMES!!!!

ask them to chop your muffler off, and temp clamp 1 muffler at a time on in place WITHOUT telling u the make/model of the can... then make sure u get the "OK" to start the struck and throw a few revs.

    try the next mufflers.......

select 1 based soley on your ears......... think of it as buying speakers... names dont mean a thing if they sound like crap TO YOU.

and thats all that matters is how YOU think it sounds.

save ur money and dont buy a full catback exhaust.......... its really not needed, a simple muffler swap will get the same effect with more money saved to buy other stuff.
