    This..

I believe it's right that they 1099 you or report it to the IRS some other way. Years ago, a friend of mine's cousin won a Mantown from WAAF, which ironically I think included a Tacoma, and was thinking about selling the truck to pay the taxes.

Never happened to me, but I used to know someone who had worked for the IRS and believe me you do not want them finding out you messed up even accidentally. They will ruin your life.

I'm in love with this JB weld! Easy to sand and shape, but strong as hell. Made the grille pieces stick like they were made to be there.

Nah just original JB weld that works for plastics.

I am working on capping off the edges of the grille.

So to recap, I took the 06-09 grille (bottom of the photo) cut out all the middle shit ( gonna remove the remaining grille stuff once I JB weld this together) shortened it by removing the center piece and trimming. Cut off and capped the corners so they work with the 03-05 headlights. Not too bad!

Must make you feel good to see so many people come out for the funeral. Shows that she must have had a lot of friends and family that really cared for her. Sorry again for your loss.

I have a baby and a dog. Both of them seem to hate to see other people sleeping.

Man I need to vent for a second and get anyone's input that is willing to give it.

This morning I am taking the old ceiling drywall out to my truck to deliver to the local dumpster at work (with permission from the boss). As I am loading up the last piece, the god damn Town inspector drives by and decides to throw it in reverse and have a little talk with me. They ask what is going on and I throw the standard "Oh we just bought the house and one of the walls had a hole in it that I am repairing."

The inspector said "can I take a look around the house and give you some pointers on how to properly hang new drywall?" I know this is a trap and I politely say, "No thank you. I appreciate the offer but I am confident that I can hang drywall and everything is all set." Now they get a little pissy and says that they think I am performing construction work without a permit and wants to walk around to make sure everything is koscher. Again, I give 'em a "No thanks, I am not comfortable allowing anyone other than my wife and immediate family into my house." They say OK, and that they will be back with a stop work order and will remove it once I can allow them to walk through the house. Dickhead....

Anyone ever deal with something like this?

The dog is great with him. He's covered him with slobber on more than one occassion but Joseph seems to tolerate it well. My fear is when he starts walking. Charlie won't intentionally do anything to harm him but he's a big dog and could very easily and accidentally take him out. So far, all is well though.

That's a bag of worms right there! I really can't stand dipshit inspectors like that. If you really are only taking out a piece of drywall for repair, let him in to look at it (I think I remember you saying you were doing more than that but not sure how far along you are with the demo process. I guess the question is, what are you actually doing and how far along are you? You are allowed to make general repairs without pulling a permit and I don't see how him seeing you bringing out some trash just gives him unilateral authority to demand you walk him through your house but some of those small town inspectors take their jobs way, way too seriously!

At this point, you're in a pickle because that moron might not actually come by with a stop work order at all (he might have just been bluffing), or it might take him a week. If you get new drywall up, he could make you tear it down to make sure you didn't do anything new behind the drywall. If you think he actually will issue you a stop work order, you're sort of screwed. At that point, you need to prove that you were just doing repair work and a permit was not needed. Or, if you're further along in the process, he'll say you needed a permit, you'll get a fine and will have to go through the permit process and all the inspections that go along with it (kiss your construction schedule goodbye because those guys only work every 3rd thursday from 10 - 11AM and need to be scheduled a year in advance ). When I was in Richmond, the city would accept 3rd party inspections in lieu of having their own guy come out. You'd still have to notify the city inspector but they were so busy, they couldn't keep up and wouldn't show up. If he slaps you with having to pull permits and get inspections, it might be worth paying a little more to have a 3rd party do it rather than the town if they allow it. They are generally more reasonable (actually give you tips and will stay while you correct the issue rather than leave and make you reschedule) and their hours are more flexible. Again though, this was Richmond, I'm not sure if that flies up here.

Even if this guy never comes back with a stop work order, your lesson learned here is don't do ANYTHING out in the open. If the inspector has that much free time and is that much of a dick, load everything in and out under cover of darkness and don't leave any construction materials in plain sight.

Another thing, go on your town's website and get ahold of the permit process/procedure. It might be spelled out in their own literature that what you're doing doesn't require a permit.
