They just copied the 2012 and newer tacomas front end back door windows back of the cab, they basically made a Chevy version clone of a new tacoma!

And I know for a fact my 2012 Trd off road tacoma is the best mid size truck out!
My taco has never let me down whether it's in mud sand or 2 feet of snow.
    My taco gots it!!

Tacoma improvements maybe add a v8, front lockers! More luxurious inside and nothing will touch the tacoma in the future!!

Because that's what's available on their respective dealerships lots today. Not offering any major improvements in 9 years is a relevant complaint.

Ok, agreed. But I will take that bet anyway, and raise you a piece of shit GM motor that will be less than worthless at 130k miles or less.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
GM should grow some balls and bring the Maloo over here, for F'k sake but they won't and I couldn't afford it anyway, [IMG] so F' em.

They were about to before they discontinued the Pontiac brand. It was going to be the G8 'Sport Truck'. Last year GM renewed the trademark for the El Camino name, so maybe something is in the works.

Yep, there's definitely more mark up in the full sizes and more 'discounting' too.

Build an F150, Tundra, Ram or Silverado with on option pack comparable to say an SR5, You'll find a big difference in MSRPs. It's difficult at best to compare street prices. Might try one of the car buying sites 'typical' or 'expected' prices. I think you'll find there's still a price premium for the full sized.

The Tacoma is a relative bargain compared to comparably equipped full sized. In my experience it was about 4-6k in 2013. I may have tossed in a few extra options avail on the full sized and not the Tacos but there was still a considerable price premium.

So diesels engines are more efficient than gas engines and that would somehow negatively impact Toyota's CAFE? What kind of new math is this lead engineer performing?

Because not all of us have teleporter beam equipped time machines to follow some sort of inane 'rules of comparison'. We simply have to suffer on and live in the present time continuum and simplistically compare what's available to us.

I don't see Chevy making any inroads, their past compact trucks were junk. GM has a long history of putting out vehicles of questionable quality and durability.

That's exactly what i thought when I read 2011Streaker's response.

2011Streaker, Was there any more to those comments? They would get close to a 10 mpg gain by doing nothing other than dropping the Hilux diesel in the Tacoma. I don't understand why improving fuel efficiency would hinder the progress of improving fuel efficiency.

I will say this: I had a 2006 Tacoma and now I have a 2013 Tacoma , I bought, both of them new . When I bought the 2013 model, I didn't have now choice, in midsize trucks. I wish I could buy something with better MPG. I was looking for a diesel engine . My brother in law has a 2013 Dodge ram 2500 with a 19 MPG. I get 14 MPG. :( :-( Right now, I have to much invested in the Tacoma , I don't think I could change the truck, but if Toyota comes out with a Diesel engine I'll put one in .

Replace the acronym CAFE with EPA and you have the reason for no diesel in the Tacoma for 2015.

I drive 14-18 passenger buses with Ford V-10 and that is a great power plant. Give me a 4.5l V10 as long as we are dreaming.

I've been looking at full size trucks lately. I've found if you price out an F-150, Ram and even a Tundra if you stay away from the luxury items (leather, sunroof, and techno gadgets) and equip comparably to the Tacoma, you can get a double cab 4x4 for no more than a couple of thousand. It's no secret the reason The mid size market has dried up up is the price point between the mid sized market and full size is negligible. The Big 3 makes up to 12K per full size since many shoppers that buy start opting for all the luxury items and technology...stay away from those items and the bottom line does drop to the price of a mid size. Ford and Ram have a lot of room in their price that any savvy shopper can easily get 6K to 10K off MSRP with rebates.

I would agree personally that Toyota is more reliable than GM, Ford and Ram, but I do know a lot of people who own trucks from the Big-3 who will also tell you that their trucks are the most reliable things on the road too. If we can take our Toyota colored goggles off for a minute, I would deduce that since there are 10 times as many American trucks on the road than Toyota's, statistics would say there will be 10 times more of a chance of complaints and or problems. Also if the Big 3 built nothing but garbage, how do they sell so many more trucks than Toyota? Either there are too many misinformed/naive buyers, or people just don't care about their hard earned money.

So far you're the one and only person I've heard say anything nice about the Triton V10.

I will never own another Chevy or GMC. I had a Chevy S-10. Paid 6 grand for the truck with about 90 thousand miles. In 30 thousand I had to replace the engine and transmission. A 6 thousand dollar truck turned into a 12 thousand dollar truck in 3 years. They took a bailout which is a big deciding factor for me.

RE triton v-10. Well its not like I have 10 of thousands of miles experience but i find the exhaust note very nice, good power and o so smooth. Of course I'm not wrenching on them either. But our techs have had less problems with the v-10 than the Ford diesels The v-10 I drove yesterday, 2000 with 210,000K on it was a far better power train than the '06 Ford diesel with just over 150K I drove a month ago. plus there was no hassle starting it at -2. With the diesel plugged in, two attempts to get it to fire and having warmed for around five minutes at around 30 degrees ambient, I thought I was driving the only Ford two stroke in existence, the blue smoke out of the diesel was embarrassing and it could hardly pull itself up a small in town grade. OOP's maybe hijacking!

So I have to ask most of you this. Do you ever see a Tacoma sales deal like the other car manufactures? In the 3 years since owning my Tacoma I havent seen one where they are marked down, mainly the Tundra and Camry.

I think that says it all...They sell themselves.

Not sure what size tire is on there but there doesn't appear to be room for much more.

I wouldn't blame a manufacturers reliability based on the experiences of a used car

Also, yes GM took a bailout....so did Ford and Chrysler. I was against the bailout, but if you think of all the people who would of lost earned pensions and warranty claims on their cars, the effect would of been far greater. I'd be more mad if all three didn't show any improvement after the fact.

Not necessarily true. Toyota doesn't offer rebates like the Big 3 because they are protecting resale value and brand name, not because their cars fly off the lot. The truth is Toyota along with Honda have mastered production based manufacturing....strict production based on demand as opposed to mass building vehicles like the Top-3. Toyota tries to keep no more than 60 days stock on dealers lot, where the Big-3 stocks up to 100 days, hence why all the massive rebates from the Big-3 at the end of the model year. Toyota and Honda have also mastered packaging their options on trim levels which keeps production costs down. You'd be damned to see Any similarly equipped GM or Dodge on the lot. Ford has gotten much better, but not like Toyota or Honda. You do know the Tacoma is like the 8th best selling vehicle out of 13 models....Toyota does throw rebates at the Camry and that's the best selling car in America.
