I was planning on CVT but realized won't be able to use it until my kid is first born and grows up a bit so I decided to hold off on the tent and put money else where on the truck

    Bumpers, skids, OME suspension,
Great thread. I'm in the planning stages of a 1 to 2 month trek in the Southwest (Mohab) in the spring of 2015 and have been thinking of getting a RTT for the trip. I've never had a problem with sleeping on the ground but as one gets...older...things change.

As the dead horse has been beat to death before, I'll take another stab.

Plus - sleeeping off the ground on softer bed and quick set up
Minus - take up and break down every day, and cost including rack alterations.

IDK, they are what all the cool kids are using...

Here's mine. No real mods on it.

However, anyone looking into the Tepui tents, they just came out with what they call a "Rugged-ized" version of the Kukenam tent. It's all a bit more heavy duty. I'm anxiously waiting for the upgraded version of the Autana like mine and I'll be looking to swap it out. I'm actually really digging the Orange color too.

The cool thing about the Autana is it comes with an Annex. So we put our family of 6 in it. My wife and I sleep in the tent and my 4 kids sleep in the annex. The annex footprint is something like 8x8' so there's quite a bit of room.

The tent itself says it will sleep 3 and it can but it's a tad tight for 3 IMO.
