Hey guys I've been lurking and researching for a while and pretty much narrowed it down to extended travel Icon or King suspension leaning heavily towards ICON. I don't plan on doing much off roading but when I do I wanna be able to go pretty hard with it. Is it worth it to spend extra money toward resi'd shocks when I could put it toward Sliders or bumpers? If I do get resi'd shocks would it be better to get them for the front/ back/ or both?

To sum it up, Resi shocks all around? only in front? only in back? Is there anything else I need? U-bolts? Gusseted spindles?
Also need UCA advise I plan on running 295s

I really want to keep it as close to around $2500 if possible but I also only want to do this suspension once and I want to do it right.

Here's the options I've come up with so far:

will the ICON 1.5" AALs be enough with a 2.5-3" lift on the front?

I'm leaning towards non-resevior to save some money to put towards other things like sliders/skids/ bumpers/ soft top
thanks in advance to anyone who actually reads all that!!

Resis are for more oil capacity to keep the dampening performance of your shocks longer when they heat up. You don't need resi's up front unless your really working/beating the CO in a high speed environment. You will feel like your beating your truck to death before you come close to heating it up to where you need the extra oil capacity. As for the back it's the same story if your really gonna go hard in the truck you will need a bigger shock than a 2.0" and a different leaf pack or spring under unless your crawling. They say build the rear first because thats gonna make the truck preform. I went with ICON 2.0 resis in the rear and I wish I would have saved a little more for the 2.5's for a little more performance. Save your money for armor unless you need the bling like I did and get resis in the rear. For crawling and some moderate speed stuff you can't go wrong with Icon stage 1, 2, or 3

It all depends on what exactly you want to do with the truck.

Sounds like I won't need the Resis then, do I need a new U-bolt pack or spindles?

No to Spindles and no to AAL. But it's always good to put a U Bolt flip kit on for easy of use honestly. And they're cheap cheap cheap.

I was under the impression an AAL was required to lift the rear even with the front? I'm planning for 3"

Sorry yes the AAL will make it even with a 3" lift. And kings are a great choice honestly.

Can't go wrong with kings. I chose Icon because they used to be geared towards Toyota and there off the shelf valving is pretty good. Honestly pick a color.

Thanks guys, now I just need a UCA. I like the total chaos ones but it seems like I've read there were problems when paired with extended travel? Should I just go with LR?

    Getting there...

I went with Desert Products ones sold by DSM. I'm pretty sure you need uniball UCA's if you are going extended travel COs. If not, LR should be fine.

Light racing UCAs work fine with extended travel coilovers. I have ICON ucas with ICON coil overs and they ride amazing and have no issues.

Also I have never heard of any one having issues with TC UCAs in an ext travel set up they make an awsome product as well. Please do it right the first time and get ext travel COs and UCAs you will be so glad you did.

Check out my thread I did an in dept write up on ICON ucas.
